Beginning of labour

I was just wondering what were/are everyones experiences with the beginning of labour?
I’m 39+1 and about 3 days ago I started getting some pinkish-brownish discharge (not jelly), I feel 5x heavier, I got back pain and last night I called the hospital because I was having period pain but it went away after about 4 hours. Oh and I feel extremely tired, there’s no nesting instincts lol I want to sleep 24/7 and keep my swollen feet far away from everything.
Could this be the beginning of labour? What can I do to speed it up just a little bit? I don’t mind hearing some experiences, I know everyone’s different but it’s very hard to be patient so I just get excited knowing something might pop soon😩

Back pain and stomach cramps for me.

Period pain. But be careful if you have heavy painful periods that you tell the mw as soon as the pain starts. I managed to grimace through the entirety of an early, incredibly painful, and fast early labour because it felt just like my period and I thought it would feel much much worse — by the time I was 5cm dilated I was begging for pain relief.

My waters breaking was first sign for me at 4am but the day before I can tell you I was in a dreadful mood and def not tired- more weirdly energised. I walked 5 miles, had a strop with exP, went to bed early to get away from him and woke up at 4am desperate for loo and as I stood up my waters broke. I then had fairly rampant diarrhoea (sorry) for a couple of hours

I just felt very restless. Hard to explain but I just 'knew' something was happening from evening onwards. Didn't really feel much until about 4am, but it was quick after that, baby arrived by 8:30am. Best of luck OP.

@kitk I wish 😂 I’m walking a lot as well because my midwife said it speeds everything up but I’ve been having these symptoms for DAYS now and I feel like nothings happening, it’s just symptoms 😔

Assuming it's baby number 1 id try to relax. It could be another 3 weeks. If you're exhausted make the most of it and get some well deserved sleep?

Discharge like that was a show for me. My baby was born less than 36 hours later.

Hopefully it won't be much longer for you.

The day before each of my labours I felt out of sorts, hormonal, back achey, nauseous and had an upset stomach. My blood pressure went up also.
Sounds like you're getting close. The pinkish discharge could be your cervix beginning to open as this causes blood vessels to break. Might be worth getting checked over.

333Alexandra120999 · 22/12/2019 23:43

@keepingbees I’ve been having it for about 3 days now, when I called the hospital they said it’s normal and it’s the beginning of labour so I expected my baby to come out by now 😂 I will get everything checked tomorrow morning.

Definitely keep moving. (Although if you can sleep tonight please do.) Then get up in the light and go for a walk. -- if something doesn't seem right do have a check though.

keepingbees · 23/12/2019 14:05

Baby is obviously too comfy Smile I bet once your labour gets going you will find you're already a few cm dilated.
Good luck!
