Any vets/ vet nurses about please? (Yucky photo warning)

Dpup is 10 months old.

He had a scab for a few weeks. We thought it was a spot as first, like a boil.

It crusted over but we noticed on Friday it was bleeding and looked like this.

We called the vets and because of the busy holidays they didn't have an appointment until tomorrow. So he is booked in

But I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas what this may be??

You should have taken him a few weeks ago. That looks awfully painful.

Might be an abcess

Is it a raised firm lump? If it is then it's most likely to be a histiocytoma/strawberry tumour. They look alarming but they are benign. It needs to be needle aspirated to ensure it is that and not anything more sinister (rule out mast cell tumour) but if it's a histiocytoma they regress by themselves. Get it checked but don't panic. It didn't look that that a few weeks ago Hmm

It was just a small spot that scabbed up.

I saw on Friday it had developed into this and called the vets straight away.

It looked like an ingrown hair a few weeks ago

Do you use a harness? We once got one from pets at home that rubbed a similar mark onto him from when he pulled! We never used it again and took him to the vets who didn’t do anything for it so it healed over and the fur grew back weren’t as red/sore looking as that though! But could be something similar? DDogs was more like a friction type burn looking.

We do use a harness but not often

It looks a bit like our ddogs hystiocytoma. (Check sp?)
Common benign tumor in pups, but can be prone to irritation or inflammation and infection
