C section - terrified

I'm going in for a section in 48 hours. My first baby was an emergency c section which was a blur and I remember very little of.

The anticipation and knowing all the possible complications this time is sending me into panic. I feel absolutely sick at the thought of it and am wondering how I'm going to walk into hospital without screaming and running away.

I'm terrified of dying during surgery, of huge blood loss or a haemorrhage after and needing more surgery, of the spinal failing and feeling the surgery, of something going wrong with the baby, of the spinal hurting going in. I'm just absolutely petrified.

I have so many thoughts running around and so much to get done before the surgery. I feel like I haven't spent enough time with my eldest and I'm worried if something happens he'll feel overlooked too.

Please calm me down.....

I was so terrified with my emergency section (33w, out of the blue) that I remember basically trying to get off the operating table mid-procedure, and my OB-GYN telling me I had to stop moving or she couldn’t do the necessary!
For the elective section, I told all of the team beforehand about what had happened and that I was terrified, and it couldn’t have gone better... it even reconciled me with my first and frightening experience and I was ALMOST tempted to do it all again Grin
Wishing you all the best!

My ELCS was a lovely, calm experience where I was really able to bond with DS2 afterwards..and I had contractions that morning too.

Wishing you all the best and you'll be meeting your gorgeous baby soon.

I’ve had two electives.

Last one everyone was so relaxed that one of the nurses was sat in the corner reading heat magazine 🤣

The only slightly worrying thing for my second was that it was like being operated on in a 1950s school science lab With the wood benches all along the side - St. Mary’s in Paddington, looks nothing like an operating theatre!

Ah bless you! It will be fine!
I was answering questions on pop master during mine.

Hope you feel ok, I'm sure the adrenaline is in overdrive at the moment! An elective is calm and relaxed. No rushing around. Sending hugs! Thanks
