For us it was always chocolate coins for the stockings, we'd get to Christmas Eve and realise we hadn't got any.

I always forget that it's just one day and that it doesn't have to be perfect to be good.

Peregrina · 19/12/2019 22:07

To buy cranberry sauce and then forget to serve it up.

IndianaMoleWoman · 19/12/2019 22:08

I always forget something non-Christmassy that it an everyday life essential, then can’t get it on the day, eg toilet roll, foil, toothpaste etc.

Cheese board. Buy it, overeat at dinner, forget about it and then start gloomily at fancy cheese til March and throw it away. Haven't got one this year.

KellyHall · 19/12/2019 23:03

We buy readymade, frozen pigs in blankets and find them in the freezer a few weeks later!

SamphireSorpresa · 19/12/2019 23:04

Crackers.
One year it was the turkey though and the world STILL didn't end.

SantaBeckett · 19/12/2019 23:17

I had 4 mins left to add stuff to my Tesco delivery when I remembered
Sprouts
Cream ( for Yule log)
Pringles
And
Yorkshire puddings ( to fill with left overs on boxing day )

If I haven't got it now I am going without. Confused

ithinkmycatistryingtokillme · 19/12/2019 23:21

I hope you remembered to all the way through checkout, I've forgotten before now and one box of lager delivered instead of everything I addedSmile

Enough butter. By the time mashed tats have been made and roast are slathered in oven with it etc etc etc

I didn’t realise I was out of peppercorns one Christmas when I was hosting and remote so no neighbours to pop round to (not that they would have answered the door if mn is to be believed!). We used some cayenne and discovered that nutmeg is really good grated on rather unexpected foods !

CocoLoco87 · 19/12/2019 23:30

My youngest brother! I'm so busy buying presents for the actual kids in the family that I forget the man-child Grin

willowmelangell · 19/12/2019 23:37

I always forget something is in the oven. Maybe something cooking or just in there to keep warm while I am plating up. I'll be eating and a niggling feeling will prod my Bucks Fizzed brain and I'll call out, 'peas and bacon!' or 'stuffing!'

Lurleene · 19/12/2019 23:41

I once forgot oil to roast the potatoes.I just presumed we had some. That was annoying.

threeicklepickles · 19/12/2019 23:41

To water the tree. Not done it since we put it up last week. Must remember to do it in the morning...

Kinsters · 19/12/2019 23:58

What day of the week it is.

Butterymuffin · 19/12/2019 23:59

One year I ran out of sello tape on Christmas Eve with still loads of wrapping to do. Drove round all the soon closing supermarkets, petrol stations etc but couldn't get any. I stock up early now.

didireallysaythat · 20/12/2019 00:10

To buy myself s stocking.

OldEvilOwl · 20/12/2019 08:46

Paper plates for Boxing Day buffets, we have a house full, and I usually end up borrowing my mums plates and having loads of washing up!

JaJoJe · 20/12/2019 11:34

I forgot chocolate coins, DH going out this weekend to grab some and some last little bit.

Ill forget something, definitely but I dont know what as im currently in the status of it being forgotten (it will stay like that till I need it at the most inconvenient time lol).

Zaphodsotherhead · 20/12/2019 13:24

I don't usually forget to buy things, but I frequently forget to serve them. Quite frequently come back from afternoon dog walk to the smell of scorching stuffing (or parsnips, or pigs in blankets) that I left in the oven whilst serving the meat and then just forgot about.

They are fine served on Boxing Day, with the black bits scraped off, though.

Stockmarketup · 20/12/2019 13:33

I always forget to put the cooked pigs in blankets onto the plates. I shove them in the top oven to keep warm, then forget to take them out.
