Christmas breakfast

My first adult Christmas in my own house. I am giddy with excitement at eating whatever i want for a change! Would love some ideas for breakfast. What is everyone having?

DS has asked for croissants so I've bought those frozen ones that you pop into the oven for 15 mins. Anything that requires minimal effort before I spend the rest of the day cooking.

BiddyPop · 19/12/2019 16:04

I make up a bowl of fresh fruit on Christmas Eve, so all I have to do is spoon it out on 25th. Diced apple, orange segments, berries etc. It's nice with plain yoghurt or on its own.

We squeeze oranges - although sometimes we buy a bottle of freshly squeezed juice on 24th.

We make a large cafetiere of coffee, and usually refill it!!

We either make Jus-Rol pastries (generally croissants, sometimes cinnamon rolls - just need rolling/slicing and brushing on some milk or beaten egg for shine) or M&S pastries (pain au raisin, pain au chocolat or croissants - which need NO work) - throw them in the oven for the appropriate length of time while stockings are checked, kettle boiled for coffee, table set etc...and they're done at the perfect time!

We have occasionally had some bacon sandwiches, or scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, but we have so much to eat later, and so much relatively rich food, that a nice but lighter breakfast suits us. There's always plenty to snack on if we do get peckish before other meals anyway! Xmas Grin

I bought a jar of hollandaise sauce so the carnivores can have Eggs Benedict and I can have Eggs Florentine.

Those of less complicated tastes are having Coco Pops once they've finished scoffing chocolate.

I asked my DC, so we are having either pancakes or waffles (apparently, DH bought a waffle making machine!?!) or, if vegan DH wants to share, we will get those tubes of dough to make pain au chocolat and bake them because they are coincidentally vegan.
If it was my choice, probably smoked salmon and scrambled egg on toast.

Butterfly02 · 19/12/2019 16:13

My dc have requested 'pigs in blanket sandwiches' and I'm sure they'll be Chocolate too!
I prefer a more refreshing breakfast such a fruit or fruit juice and light pastry.

Spitsandspots · 19/12/2019 16:14

Buck’s Fizz, croissants and Ferrero rocher usually

LER83 · 19/12/2019 16:18

Scrambled egg & smoked salmon on toast, with tea, orange juice from the milkman (this always tastes so much better then other orange juice!), and bucks fizz. Eldest usually has pain au chocolat, fussy middle child will have coco pops and youngest weetabix! Followed by body weight in chocolate!

TheChosenTwo · 19/12/2019 23:03

We always have bagels, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. After whatever chocolate anyone decides to eat first thing.
We don’t have our Christmas dinner until about 4/5pm.
I usually do some light snacks early afternoon when the guests arrive to keep everyone going (and prevent anyone needing a Pre dinner nap Grin ).

Bairnsmum05 · 19/12/2019 23:10

Tattie scone, fried egg and bacon Grin and probably toasted wheaten bread and lurpak.

Opendraw · 19/12/2019 23:14

I made delias sausage rolls one year and have had to make them every since as my DD loves them. So the only time we have them is xmas morning with coffee or fizz for adults !

ThisIsAllaMooPoint · 19/12/2019 23:27

We try to do something different every year. This year we’re debating over breakfast burritos or shakshuka with crusty white bread. With mimosas of course Grin

IncyWincyGrownUp · 19/12/2019 23:35

We have tended toward bacon sandwiches in the past, but this year I’m getting some ready-to-bake breakfast pastries and rolling with that instead. I’d much rather a warm croissant and a coffee than a heavy sandwich.

formerbabe · 19/12/2019 23:39

Selection box Grin

I can't be doing with fancy breakfasts...then making Christmas lunch...it means all I do is cook and load/unload the dishwasher

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 19/12/2019 23:59

Some sort of pastries that can be warmed in the oven, and some sort of Prosecco + fruit cocktail (not overly keen on Buck’s Fizz). Fruit salad sounds lovely though, so might do that as well. Couldn’t face doing a cooked breakfast and then cooking lunch, and were eating fairly early this year.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 20/12/2019 01:01

Smoked salmon sandwiches, sausage patties for DD and buck's fizz.

Idontkowmyname · 20/12/2019 01:09

A fruit salad is always worth adding in to the mix. It’s something “fresh and healthy” to counteract all the junk

Onefootforward1 · 20/12/2019 21:27

Thanks for all the yummy ideas! I think i’m going with the popular smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and bucks fizz.

Christmas Day: Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on toasted muffins. Pandoro and Buck’s Fizz.

Boxing Day: Nigella’s Christmas muffins.

TheGonnagle · 20/12/2019 21:34

Rojak (Malaysian fruit salad with chilli and fishy sauce) better than it sounds.
Lemon and sugar crepes
Ham and cheese croissants

Stravapalava · 20/12/2019 21:39

Usually I just do a plate of crumpets, toast and croissants and we all help ourselves whilst "opening."

This year we're on our own so I'm doing a proper full english plus hash browns (on request of DD2) and we're just having nibbles all day instead of christmas lunch. Can't wait. Xmas Grin

Stravapalava · 20/12/2019 21:41

DH and I always have a Baileys or Amaretto coffee that's about 1/3 alcohol too!

HeyMicky · 20/12/2019 21:41

Croissants and champagne.

AuntieStella · 20/12/2019 21:42

Pile of toast and marmite is my favourite

But smoked salmon scrambled eggs feels like more of a treat.

Eggs Benedict is ultimate, but only when going out for breakfast

DecemberSnow · 20/12/2019 21:43

Just normal toast / cereal with chocolate
We have Christmas Dinner at 2pm ish so couldnt eat loads in the morning

Big fry up Boxing day morning tho !

onlyhereforthefood · 20/12/2019 21:47

Usually just chocolate, saving ourselves for the main event
