Muscle relaxant / something other than diazepam for severe back pain?

I have an ongoing longterm (3 years) back problem. I’m in pain that’s manageable most of the time but have to be careful how I move. I have naproxen on prescription for days where it’s more severe, and I already take morphine for another medical condition although it doesn’t really make much difference when it’s really bad.

Very occasionally (approximately twice a year) my back pain becomes completely insane - this time it was cleaning the bath that did it, I slipped and have been in agony for three days since. Last time it was putting one of my twins in his cot - he jerked and I twisted and again agony.

On two previous occasions when this has happened, a GP has prescribed me diazepam for a couple days which has really helped me to do my physio exercises - at the moment I can barely bloody move.

I know GPs hate prescribing it, and I hate going in there to get it - I don’t want to seem like a drug seeker, especially when I already take morphine.

Is there anything else I can try that isn’t diazepam but could work similarly on my muscles, but that isn’t associated with recreational use etc? I don’t want those effects, I just want to be able to move a bit!

I’ve just filled in an online consultation form to ask for some help, and now worried about the reaction. Last time I had to go for help with it was about 5-6 months ago, time before then was 12 months ago so hopefully they can see it’s not a regular occurrence, but still it worries me.

(If I seem overly anxious, it’s probably down to being treated like a faker and drug seeker for the 10 years before my endometriosis was diagnosed, and sometimes in the 15 years since - unfortunately I haven’t been treated very well by doctors over the years and while my current practice is much better it really depends on which GP picks up the request I think).
