So like an idiot I got a white cat when all my clothes and furniture is black! 😩 all of a sudden the hair is everywhere!

It's all over the curtains and sofa where he likes to sit, all over the throws and our clothes and doesn't seem to come off in the wash, it's driving me INSANE

I think it's in the washer, do any of the disolver things work? And the drier balls?

My hoover won't pick them off off the curtains, apparently rubber gloves work?

I've got a lint roller for our clothes as we leave the house but I'm honestly feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all and like I'm never going to get rid of it! 😩 I don't mind spending a bit of money on solutions but I would like advise on whether they work or not first! 🤞

Also forgot to add, should I groom him?

He's an indoor cat at the minute just recovering from neutering so hopefully it will die down a bit when he goes outside after Xmas all being well!

Lint roller...sorry nothing else works for us.
We have a silver tabby cat so whatever the color is that we wear, her hairs are visible.

And brush him softly, it will definitely help!

Rubber gloves or rubber hand brush from amazon will work wonders on your curtains and sofa etc. The brush has bristles and a scraper bit attached so I find clumps it together easier to get off, sometimes the gloves just move it around if there's a lot I find.

If you have carpets, a rubber brush is also a must have. No pet hair vacuum I've ever tried works as well.

All very cheap Grin

It's a losing battle I've given up on TBH. We've always had several cats including fosters (current headcount 8!) and the mix of colours means that someone's hair always shows up all over something.

One thing that helps with the washing machine situation is washing their blankets and anything massively covered in hair in a bag designed for washing horse rugs, such as:

www.viovet.co.uk/Moorland-Rider-Horsewear-Wash-Bag/c15599/

We also have a rubber sweeping brush, which is good for picking up hair off carpets and rugs.

And we buy lint rollers in bulk from Costco Grin.

Grooming helps - you remove the loose hair and put it in the bin, rather than it shedding on to your furniture. Furminator is very good; if he dislikes a hard brush, a soft Zoom Groom is pretty good too.

Getting a robovac helped massively to collect up all the stray hairs before they attached themselves to socks etc. I have a Eufy.

Have you tried the brush attachment on your hoover for the curtains and furnishings? Using that in a circular motion does the trick on my sofa.

DH bought the furninator too but we have stopped using it, heard that it’s harmful for cat’s fur.

That blue and white microfiber thing is actually very good - I'll have to look up the name of it. Mine came with a travel version that I keep upstairs to wipe the beds. I've a short haired black house panther (who sheds a lot!) and a fluffster who is black and white - I managed to cover all the bases there for the colours...

Fur Magic Pet Hair Remover Brush - got it on Amazon

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/12/2019 09:30

Our darling departed boy liked his zoom groom & furminator. Daily zoom and weekly furminator works.

A cheap window squeegy works on fabrics too. Tumble dry what you can & put throws where he likes to sit.

A furminator comb for daily grooming, a cotton pillow case on the sofa,
A lint roller and a hoover attachment with good bristles. Dont put very hairy stuff in the washer, hoover it first

Rubber hand brush all the way, for both furniture and carpets. (It is also the business for cleaning stair carpets, cats or no cats, cordless Dysons, Sharks etc notwithstanding. I keep one at the bottom of the stairs in my as-you-go basket, take it up with me as-I-go, start at the top and work my way down. Job done.)
