Does anyone know please if you can only put goods in there that you have bought from that particular supermarket?

No I’m sure you can put anything in. I can’t imagine the people collecting from Tesco are discarding Waitrose products and vice versa.

Food bank collections? No, it doesn’t need to come from that supermarket.

Can come from anywhere at all

Does anyone know if food banks take cosmetic products at this time of year? I have some unopened things that I would like to donate, but ours is only open while I'm at work, so the bag is sitting there. I'll make an effort to get there next week if they do.

Great, thank you, have some brand new things that I’d like to donate but they’re from various places, don’t want them to be discarded

If you want to know what's needed, look for your local Trussell Trust food bank collection point here. It's several layers in, but there's a list of what they need - my local one wants tinned fruit, tinned custard, coffee, UHT milk and biscuits. It doesn't need beans, soup, cereals and pasta.

I don't imagine they'll turn down things they already have plenty of, but if anyone's considering picking up a few items along with the weekly shop it does help.
