Should I write 'without prejudice' on the letter?

Hi Mumsnet

I've been advised to write a letter of complaint to a solicitor's firm about how they handled my case.
If they don't respond appropriately I can refer the letter up the chain to the law society for their review.

My question is : do I write 'without prejudice' at the bottom of my letter to the lawyer or will this scupper me from taking it further up the chain of the lawyer doesn't act?

Hoping someone knows what to do!

Thanks all!

I used to work in Complaints you don’t need to write that just be clear about:

  • what you want investigated
  • the impact of what went wrong
  • what you would like to happen to put right, if possible

No.

Without prejudice means that you can't refer to the letter if you pursue them in court. It's not really relevant here and not needed.

To write and complain, just set out the issues as PP says.
