Is it chicken pox if there's only two poxes?

Daughter had two wee red blisters this morning, fluid filled, looked just like when my others had chicken pox, so I dutifully kept her off school but no more have come during the day.
What's my chances, do you think, that it's something else and not chicken pox at all? Plenty to do this week that really needed her to be at school!

My youngest had four spots one Friday, and woke up on the Monday covered head to toe. I'd say it's too soon to tell. But if my three, my daughter had the least amount of spots but was by far the most poorly with it, she was really ill poor thing.

Hope you're little one is better soon, whatever it turns out to be Flowers

Gaa! Thank you frugalkitty, sounds like I need to wait and see.

I think you'd need at least 24 hours to be sure. DD had a couple on her face which apparently had come up some time that morning (I only saw her in the evening) and I didn't even realise they were chickenpox as they hadn't got fluid filled yet. 24 hour later I suddenly realised what I'd missed (and had to apologise to MIL who'd said she thought DD was poorly and I'd told her snapped a bit that she was fine).

It's such an irritating illness. DD was STILl getting new ones about 6 days later. It felt endless.

I’m still not sure if DD had the pox or not! She had about 20 spots total and was fine, not itchy or anything.

Can I say gaaaa some more? I feel like if I knew for sure I could confidently write off my plans for the week . She's desperate not to miss end of term fun and I know I can't send her in with actual pox but will feel like a pillock if it turns out I've kept her off a whole week for a couple of insect bites!

My DS had CP at 3 weeks - only had a couple of spots and was fine.

HeatedDryer · 17/12/2019 17:31

My DS had 4 spots the first time around. Then caught it a second time and had spots everywhere. Sorry.

HeatedDryer · 17/12/2019 17:32

Should say there were 2 years inbetween both episodes.

anothernamereally · 17/12/2019 19:23

My son had 2 spots - only realised it was pox a couple of days later when his sister was covered- he's not had it again though

TheClausSeason · 17/12/2019 19:26

Where are they? Could be hand, foot and mouth.

oneoffname · 17/12/2019 19:42

I had it as a toddler and only had two spots. It definitely was chicken pox - I never caught it at another time and I've had shingles as an adult, which I believe you can only have if you've already had chicken pox.
I think I'd err on the side of caution , especially as it's potentially quite dangerous for certain people.

Thank you for the moral support, all - this morning we have full belly coverage so it's definitely pox!
