It's for a Christmas present. Online reviews are very mixed.

TIA

I don't drink gin but if you hop on the sober penguins thread ( I am on it ) someone will help you.
Although it's a bit quiet on there atm

Trewser · 17/12/2019 12:57

Seedlip spice seems popular. Id never buy any of it as its madly overpriced. If i want an alcohol free g and t I just have the t.

mynamechangemyrules · 17/12/2019 13:08

Seedlip is shit. Ceders is more like it 👍🏼

Why is it to bloody expensive, no alcohol!!! Are they just trying to make it exclusive?

helpfulperson · 17/12/2019 21:11

Its expensive because it is made in small batches, not mass production.

I like the seedlip pea one and have heard good things about lidl's one but never tried it.

Tesco not g & t is also OK.

Dionysa · 17/12/2019 21:13

Seedlip tastes the way I imagine loo cleaner would taste, if I decided to drink it. It is beyond disgusting, and I'd rather have a Coke. I saw an AF gin advertised in Lidl t'other day, but they had sold out.

The Tesco AF "G&T" in tins is better.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/12/2019 21:20

I hated seedlip pea.

ShirleyPhallus · 17/12/2019 21:22

I honestly think that tonic on its own tastes better than the alcohol- free gin

Does it have to be gin, OP? You could do a case of non-alcoholic wine and beers?

Teachermaths · 17/12/2019 21:22

I like seedlip with tonic. It's rank on its own.

halcyondays · 17/12/2019 21:26

are you sure they'd want it?
I'd rather just have a nice tonic or presse. It seems such a waste of money.

delilahbucket · 17/12/2019 21:30

I really like Caleno Juniper and Inca Berry. On its own it isn't much, but with tonic it's pretty close to the real thing without the alcohol kick.

Mrbay · 17/12/2019 21:33

All the alcohol free gin I've tried tastes like actual dirt!
Personally I prefer the tonic with lots of limes or robinsons mint and lime cordial which with tonic is tiny bit like a g&t, I expect if I added some juniper it would be pretty close

Hall84 · 17/12/2019 22:12

The citrus seedlip is nice with tonic and a slice of orange. The caleno mentioned by a pp (I've only seen it in Sainsbury's) is also good with tonic, a handful of frozen berries and some mint.

EstebanTheMagnificent · 17/12/2019 22:45

Its expensive because it is made in small batches, not mass production.

Maybe it was at first but not any more. It is predominantly owned by Diageo and it’s in all the major supermarkets. The kitchen-table distillery image is just part of the marketing, as is the strategy to price it alongside premium craft gin. Given that the price of those craft gins is 60% tax and duty which isn’t payable on Seedlip the price is pretty indefensible.

lifeisgoodagain · 17/12/2019 22:51

It's not gin, it's fancy cordial and not very nice .... but something else

fastliving · 19/12/2019 14:50

Didn't Spencer Matthews (from made in Chelsea's) launch a no alcohol gin?

RexDangerVest · 19/12/2019 14:55

It's not gin but how about three spirit?

Tableclothing · 19/12/2019 15:02

Alcohol-free gin = squash.

It should be about £3 per bottle.

Tollergirl · 19/12/2019 16:16

It's not squash because squash is sweet! As someone unable to drink alcohol I would say that's one thing I really miss because nearly all no alcohol alternatives e.g. soft drinks are sweet.
I wasn't keen on Seedlip but have just got a bottle of Ceder's and I think it's really nice with tonic. I read somewhere that it's expensive because essentially they have to make it as they would gin and then take out the alcohol - not sure whether that's just marketing speak though. I was bought seedlip as a present and it was nice to have an alternative to soft drinks. I wish they would do little bottles though as you can't try it and I'm afraid the Pea one went down the sink! The spice or citrus were better but Ceder's still wins for me.
