Can I have some opinions about this, please? I’m not a massive HP fan, but have enjoyed the books and the films. I’m thinking about booking up to see the shows, but am not sure how best to do it.

Those of you who have done it, would you recommend doing it all in one day, or over two days? I wouldn’t do a bigger gap between the two parts. I’m thinking about doing consecutive matinees, but I wonder if doing it in one day would be more immersive, if that’s the right word.

Also, does anyone think it is/isn’t worth splashing out on top price seats? I’m okay with paying more if it makes the experience that bit more enjoyable.

Thanks!

We saw it on successive days and enjoyed the gap. Also had absolutely the cheapest seats and the view was great. I would have felt a bit sick paying hundreds to see it but at £15 a ticket it was a massive bargain.

Savour the last few minutes of part 1! I would pay quite a lot of money to be able to watch it for the first time again!

Just to add a different opinion - I saw it on consecutive nights and was so glad as the seats were so uncomfortable I'm not sure I could have sat through 2 performances in one day! I was quite heavily pregnant though so that was probably a factor. I also quite liked having the time to reflect on the first half and trying to second guess what would happen in part 2. It spread the experience out - and meant we had an excuse for having 2 nights in london rather than 1!

What age would you say it's suitable from?

burnoutbabe · 17/12/2019 19:43

Agree I also saw over 2 nights s as bad was glad for a break from the cramped legs.
We were in the gods, row e which was fine but you go feel miles away.
So I sold on my similar January seats to a mate.
I'd go closer but honestly, it was£80 before and even next level up is £170 or so. It's very pricy.

I'd say 8+ accompanied

Some scares

I'd say exactly what but massive spoilers for the magic bits. Smile

I'd say older than 8, more like 12, or 10 at a push.
Reasons:
a) Waste of money for kids unless they have read the books / watched the films (and in my opinion though MN is very liberal on this, 8yos are too young for the 12 rated films at the end of the series)
b) Most 8yos won't have the stamina to sit quietly through 2 full length plays in one day

Thanks. Might book for next year when my HP loving DS is 10. He's read all the books and seen all the films (bad parent alert).

We’ve been twice. First time we had the restricted view tickets about a month after it opened - just em and DH so fine for two adults. Or so we thought...

Second time we took DD (she was just 8) and had the £75 a part tickets in the Stalls. I can not describe how amazing it was. Really, really great. DD has read all the books and seen the films. We did read the script before we went to see it so she was familiar with the plot and could enjoy the experience. Can’t wait to take DS in four years or so.

gothicsprout · 17/12/2019 22:09

We went on consecutive days, 2 adults, and I enjoyed the longer break between the two parts - more time to guess what was coming etc.

bruffin · 17/12/2019 22:17

I've seen it 3 times
Very back row upper circle over 2 days
Restricted stalls same day
Front row lottery tickets 2 days.
I dont think it really makes much difference either way. TBH cheap seats at back were really bad and I wouldn't recommend them at all.
