What would you say is the most likely cause of following symptoms - both me and DH woke up feeling queasy this morning, that feeling of needing to be sick, an hour after wakening I started with vomiting and DH diarrhoea, just wonderful on Monday morning whilst getting ourselves and 2 kids ready for work / school! Anyway I had to go on to work as start early and open up and now I feel 70% ok, haven't eaten but drank lots of water. DH on other hand has had to come home from work and take to bed with aches and shivering. Both of us had a Christmas dinner out yesterday about 12 noon then I cooked some little spicy m and a steaks last night about 7pm with just green veg..... so paranoid it's a bug and my los will get it !

bug.

PurpleDaisies · 16/12/2019 13:31

That sounds like a bug.

Is anyone else from the Christmas dinner ill?

lifesbetteraftertea · 16/12/2019 14:16

@PurpleDaisies only the two of us had the dinner, was just in a garden centre ! What will be will be but my little 3yo has had an awful run of sickness recently and this next week is so much for him with little parties and his birthday etc so I'd hate for him to take sick too but heyho! Thanks

You’d hate your little ones to get it before Christmas but you’ve gone into work to spread it to everyone else and their families? Hmm

Greenandcabbagelooking · 16/12/2019 16:27

Why did you both go to work to spread whatever it is around?

Could be either, TBH.

lifesbetteraftertea · 16/12/2019 16:28

@Harumff in my own little office on my lonesome all day so unless I can pass it through the phone to clients.....

Everyone wants to blame food, This is a winter virus. You should not be at work sharing the joy

Halo1234 · 16/12/2019 16:30

U are so inconsiderate to go into work after vomiting. Now u have exposed lots of people to it and potentially ruined a few christmases. Stay at home til 48 hours of no vomiting or diarrhoea.

whiplashy · 16/12/2019 16:31

You shouldn’t have gone to work to spread it around

Halo1234 · 16/12/2019 16:32

U touch door handles to get into office. Leave to get water. Get there by public transport? Or did u leave and arrive in a germ proof bubble. Does the office have an en- suite? Or are u sharing a bathroom with colleagues?

lifesbetteraftertea · 16/12/2019 16:41

It's not just as black and white as "I've vomited- now I'll take 2 days off" and actually it's not for selfish reasons that I am in work, If I hadn't of turned up today it would have affected many self employed ppl that sub contract in for the company daily who would have been without work today. It was the thoughts of letting them down that forced me in.

Halo1234 · 16/12/2019 16:53

You need to look at how your company runs then. If you cant have time off to protect passing on a highly contagious vomiting bug (schools have to close because it spreads so rapidly). Surely there needs to be a plan B so u can take time off to be ill. They will all be off next week vomiting and their families the week after so u havent protected them from missing a days work. The knock on effects from people not staying at home when vomiting are significant.

stripeypillowcase · 16/12/2019 16:54

could be either.
both can be contagious therefore for both you have to practice good hygiene.

stripeypillowcase · 16/12/2019 16:55

and yes, companies need a back up system so that staff members can take sick leave at short notice.

lifesbetteraftertea · 16/12/2019 17:02

@Halo1234 I appreciate what you're saying and I do wish my employer would fine some relief staff because the pressure is immense at times. I obviously have been thorough in hand washing and have not been in contact with these ppl today. However, as a further update, it has been confirmed that there have been other reported incidents of food poisoning where we ate yesterday, so I think that explains why I have got over it so quickly as I only ate about 1/4 my food whereas DH cleared his plate. I totally agree it's never clever to intentionally spread germs around but surely all are aware that as soon as you step foot in public you are at risk.

OP posts:
Halo1234 · 16/12/2019 17:30

Food poisoning can still be contagious fyi.
Yes everyone realises/should realise that as soon as they are in public they are at risk of exposure to vomiting/flu bugs. Sometimes its unavoidable and nothing can prevent it. But that's not the same as knowing you are vomitting and not isolating it to stop it spreading. People cant stay in all the time to avoid bugs that's rediculous but those who know they are/could be infectous should stay away until they are better. This protect the vulnerable and reduces the risk of it spreading. I understand that it's hard to let the team down and be off but it's the better option in the long run. Anyways honey feel better soon and your little one avoids it.

Halo1234 · 16/12/2019 17:32

That should say anyways hope u feel better soon not honey. Sorry typing too fast. Honey sounds patronising/sarcastic and I honestly wasnt sorry. Should say anyways hope u feel better soon. Predictive text.

lifesbetteraftertea · 16/12/2019 17:53

Totally see your point @Halo1234 and thank you
