Might be shingles

dementedpixie · 16/12/2019 11:40

And if it is it might be worth going to get anti virals

PrincessIsAUnicorn · 16/12/2019 11:52

Shingles, didn't think of that one, aww man, this close to Christmas too, oh well, take even more and carry on, although, we're supposed be having our 7 almost 8yo god-twins over for the night on Thursday, they are going to be so upset Xmas Sad

Shingles only spreads chicken pox by contact with fluid from the blisters, it's not airborne. Have they had chicken pox before?

dinosawus · 16/12/2019 12:07

I think that looks like shingles, you should see your gp straight away for anti virals, they need taking asap.
My ds had what the doctor thought was impetigo when he was a baby and that was a sore from a scratch that wouldn't heal and needed antibiotic cream.

PrincessIsAUnicorn · 16/12/2019 12:22

@dementedpixie yes they have, but I can remember when my mum got shingles, she was told to stay away from everyone (or was my mum saying that as an excuse to stay in bed and be waited on, hand and foot?! Hmm 🤔) that's got me thinking now Xmas Grin

NHS says this:

Stay away from certain groups of people if you have shingles

You cannot spread shingles to others. But people who have not had chickenpox before could catch chickenpox from you.

This is because shingles is caused by the chickenpox virus.

Try to avoid:

  • pregnant women who have not had chickenpox before
  • people with a weakened immune system – like someone having chemotherapy
  • babies less than 1 month old – unless it's your own baby, as they should be protected from the virus by your immune system

No it's not impetigo from what I can see (not a doc though) does look like shingles though.

PrincessIsAUnicorn · 16/12/2019 12:41

@dementedpixie thank you.
No more appointments available for today, including in the "hub" which I'm assuming is the emergency/out of hours, so have to phone in the morning and see if there are any left (by the time I get through the queue!) Xmas Hmm

Thank you everyone, I've managed to get an appointment with my doctors, after phoning 111, the man said, that because I have RRMS and have a bad immune system I should tell the receptionist I need to be seen within the next 2 hours (he agrees with all of you, from my description, he also thinks it's shingles), so they gave me 5.40 Xmas Smile even though I was told half hour before, there were no more appointments available 🤷🏼‍♀️
Since the photo was taken it has spread down the side of my eye.
Thank you again everyone WineThanks
