Immunity to alcohol?

I don't drink very often at all, will have a cocktail or two with dinner if it's a celebration (e.g. New job, promotion etc) and then maximum 2 nights out a year, and a baileys or two on Christmas eve. I don't drink at home, ever so we are speaking a maximum of 6 times a year.

Now, I'm not saying I want to get absolutely steaming drunk on a regular basis, or ever, but for the past 2 or 3 years, alcohol seems to have no effect on me and I wonder why?

The 2 most recent examples were at our engagement party where I don't know how much I drank exactly but I had a drink in my hand from 7pm until 1am and was drinking them pretty steadily and I felt completely 100% sober like I could have driven to work and done a full day (obviously I didn't drive or go to work at 1am on a Saturday) but still.

On Friday was the works Christmas party where I decided to monitor what I was drinking... I had 2 x medium glasses of wine, 2 x baileys, 9 x long vodkas and 7 shots of rose tequila. Again, absolutely nothing. I drank the same as my colleagues who were all pretty drunk by the end of the night and I felt nothing except a bit tired and my feet hurt.

It's not that I'm bothered or feel like I'm missing out or anything I just want to know why??

Anyone have any ideas?

I wonder if you felt sober, but appeared drunk to everyone else.

I'm the same. I rarely drink unless it's an occasion. I could drink shots along with a whole bottle of spirits and feel nothing but tiredness. I don't get 'drunk', and I also don't get hangovers.

No definitely not, DP picked me up and asked if I had ever been drinking and my work friends by the end of the night were asking if I was okay as I was being a bit of a boring party pooper by the end as the music was too loud and my feet hurt but I wasn't even remotely drunk and therefore couldn't stand the thought of removing my shoes and having bare feet on the floor like everyone else had Grin

Do other people view you as unaffected by it? That's the question.

Think we cross posted Runkle but yes they do, in the few check in texts with colleagues the next morning they all were joking about sore heads etc and were saying that I didn't seem drunk and asked if I had stopped drinking early on in the night

I get this sometimes. It takes a truly unholy amount of alcohol before I feel drunk.
Don't answer if you don't want to OP, but are you a larger person?
I am over 20 stone, and I think my body mass might have something to do with it.

I am a small person. 5'3" and size 10. I can also drink all night ans not feel drunk. As a teen and a student I used to love getting very drunk, but for the past 10 years or so I have got drunk maybe 2 or 3 times.
All the other times I tend to give up after 2 or 3 drinks, as I start seeing it as a waste of money.
Even at my own wedding I did this.
I do enjoy a glass of wine, or a gin or cider though. I drink maybe once a week, but only one or two glasses.
