Strange one... for the last 2 hours, one of DD’s cheeks is bright red and hot to touch. She’s a bit grumpy today but no other signs of her being unwell.

Any ideas?

It’s more red in reality than it looks in the picture.

Slapped cheek?
Keep her away from pregnant women just in case

Ear infection. Tooth coming up or slapped cheek.

puds11 · 15/12/2019 18:29

Would have thought it would be a long time after for reaction to booster. I’d suspect slapped cheek too.

Had she been sat with that side near a radiator or anything? I sometimes get one cheek red and the other normal if one is nearer to a fire etc.

CherryPlum · 15/12/2019 18:31

Looks like slapped cheek

GABZZZ · 15/12/2019 18:32

Not that I can think of.

My older DD had scarlet fever which she got bright red cheeks with but she was really obviously unwell so I’m discounting that. Could slapped cheek cause only one red cheek?

Slapped cheek

AppropriateAdult · 15/12/2019 18:33

Looks like slapped cheek syndrome, OP. It’s a virus, fairly harmless but can be a problem for pregnant women so keep her away from any she might be in contact with for a few days.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 15/12/2019 18:34

My face used to just randomly do that for no reason, till I was in my 20s.

AccioCoffee · 15/12/2019 18:38

My daughters does this sometimes and then goes away again. Doesn't mean there is an issue

TheABC · 15/12/2019 18:55

How old is she? It could be teeth.

GABZZZ · 15/12/2019 18:57

One of DD’s plasters has just, finally fallen off in the bath. She won’t let me touch them to peel them off as she’s really scared. There’s red spots where the plaster has been. Is this normal?

OP posts:
GABZZZ · 15/12/2019 18:58

Sorry, I should have answered about teething... she already has all her teeth.

Have you checked the rash to see if it blanches when you roll a glass over it?

I think I would call 111

GertrudeCB · 15/12/2019 19:05

Slapped cheek.

MsTSwift · 15/12/2019 19:09

Slapped cheek. Dd had recently as she had been helping out with the reception kids at school

AlaskaElfForGin · 15/12/2019 19:11

Prob slapped cheek, though when DD had it her cheeks was much redder.

PixieDustt · 15/12/2019 19:31

My DS had a little red patch when his plasters come off after all his first jabs. But it was like a ring not like that.
I'd run a glass over it.
Could be slapped cheek syndrome but I'd phone 111.
Have you taken her temp?

DrMadelineMaxwell · 15/12/2019 19:32

Slapped cheek looks a little lacy in appearance, not just pink. If perfectly smooth then it could be something else.

Reaction to plasters is q common.

She's cute as a button though.

Adviceplease1234 · 15/12/2019 19:42

My DD has been getting red cheeks on and off for a couple of weeks. I thought slapped cheek at first but now I'm just thinking its a random virus. Strangely she also has a patch like your daughters on her chest. I'm going to take her to the pharmacy to see if they have any ideas.
