Totally stainless steel kettles?

Boring thread but, DH keeps on about our plastic kettle and that he can taste the plastic in the water. I tried to find a stainless steel one for his birthday but they all seem to have a bit of plastic, even if it's only on the inside spout.

Anyone know of a totally stainless steel one??

We have just bought a Sage one it doesn’t taste of plastic.

We use a hob kettle now we have an induction hob, as fast as a rapid boil one and all stainless steel.

We have a stovetop kettle that doesn’t have any plastic in contact with the water. It was a present and although it’s very beautiful I was a bit Hmm about the idea of a stovetop kettle. I was wrong, it’s fab and I really enjoy having less cutter on the kitchen worktop.

Ours is le cruset so was probably pricey, we’ve had it two years and it still looks totally new. I’d not swap back to electric.

Same as RandomMess but before we got our induction hob we had a dualit kettle. No plastic apart from the handle.

Ah, this is good thanks Not sure about a hob one - we've only got gas so assume that would make it more expensive (especially as I drink about 3000 Brew a day!)

I'll go and look up dualit and sage. I can't taste the plastic at all but DH has a more culivated palate Grin

Our deLonghi has a stainless steel body... there is a little bit of plastic in the filter in the spout but not actually on the kettle, if you see what I mean. It only comes into contact with the water when it's poured out, not while it's actually boiling.

It's bloody heavy though Xmas Shock

Oh and I think the measuring gauge is plastic but it's clear plastic rather than the stuff the kettle body is normally made from...

Have you looked at glass ones?

DookofBust · 15/12/2019 16:54

I can recommend dualit too, I have got two of these (3 storey house, I work on the top floor!), the window is plastic of course. I like the hidden element, not sure if that’s common or not.

I purposely wanted a small kettle as I only make two cups at the most but it comes in a normal sized version.

Look at a camping shop

LBOCS2 · 15/12/2019 17:02

We had one of these. We replaced it with a plastic one because it kept giving me terrible burns when I touched the outside. I hated it.

Is glass an option?
