I’ve never used one before but I have been looking into buying one.

They range from £10 to over £300!!??

Now, if they are really good I am willing to invest in one (will pay up to about £60)

And I see Amazon have a lightening deals on them.

But having never used one I want to hear from people who use them and your thoughts.

Are the more expensive ones worth the money or is it all just gimmicks and the cheapest do just as good a job?

Any advise or stories on them will be great fully received thank you 😊

I have one, DH hates the mouth feel if them. I started with the £10 to see if we could get on with them.

I buy the £6/70 ones when someone has a sale, Boots or Amazon. They are fast enough, recharge quickly. I don't know if there is any benefit to the more expensive ones though.

sansou · 15/12/2019 14:54

Just bought these in Waitrose today as replacement ones for us. We have ancient handles which are about a decade old which need daily charging as opposed to once a week so time to replace!

sansou · 15/12/2019 14:56

£40 in Waitrose and I had a £4 off £40 spend voucher so a good buy.

I have a Philips sonic one.
Your teeth feel a whole new kind of clean.

dementedpixie · 15/12/2019 15:00

I have an oral b one. Does the job

AnnaMagnani · 15/12/2019 15:01

I have one, it's a cheap rechargeable one. You just need one that buzzes to tell you when 2 minutes is up a lot longer than I had thought

Your teeth are dramatically cleaner than without, my gum disease has disappeared and my dentist is v happy.

I can't see that an extra £300 would make my teeth even cleaner though - you still need to floss for the superspecial clean.

ThatLibraryMiss · 15/12/2019 15:24

My dentist says the Oral B one is best (even though they actually sell the Phillips one). I have a fairly basic model, certainly not £300 MRP, and dentists always tell me how clean my mouth is.

Boots, Superdrug and Amazon all seem to have good offers at the moment. If you get one, keep an eye out for offers on replacement heads because they're not cheap.

PurpleDaisies · 15/12/2019 15:29

Philips sonicare here. Got it very reduced age would highly recommend.

roiseandjim · 15/12/2019 15:29

Married to a gum specialist- his toothbrush is the oral B one from Tesco's was on offer for £30- don't spend ridiculous anoints there's really no point. My old oral b one vibrates every 30 seconds so you knew when to switch quadrants, this one has a pressure sensor which is good cos I do brush to hard!

OrangeTwirlGate · 15/12/2019 15:30

Thanks all.

I hate when an item you want to buy comes in so many formats and prices. It makes it hard to choose.

Pressure sensor would be good for me as I do brush to hard. And I have never timed myself so no doubt I’m not even reaching 2 minutes Confused

I like this one it has zone time reminder, a pressure alert light and a two minute’s up buzz. The round head supplied is all right but dentist advised renewing to cross head action when the time to renew arrives. You can buy an interdental head too. Of course other supermarkets are available feel free to shop around - groceries.morrisons.com/webshop/product/OralB-Pro-2000-Cross-Action-Pink-Electric-Toothbrush/332928011?from=shop&tags=102838%7C103094%7C154412%7C154410

Notwiththeseknees · 15/12/2019 15:48

I'm on my fourth or fifth Sonicare (had this brand for about 30 years). A former DP bought me an Oral B, but I hated it in comparison.

7salmonswimming · 15/12/2019 15:51

The £300 ones are not worth the extra money.

Anything with a timer and a long battery life will do. Around £40/50 will do the trick.

Koloh · 15/12/2019 15:54

I was using the cheap colgate battery ones that are always on offer but I've just switched to this new Quip and it's really a lot better. It's one that buzzes you through each quadrant (I was brushing way too long!) and they send you a new head/toothpaste/etc on a schedule. Not had it long enough to properly recommend it tbh but so far I am impressed. My teeth feel nicer.

Koloh · 15/12/2019 15:55

This is the one I mean

Violetroselily · 15/12/2019 15:55

I have an Oral B pro something that cost about £30-40 6 or 7 years ago. It is great, I would never go back to a manual. I charge it once a week overnight.

BloodyCats · 15/12/2019 15:57

I got a very expensive one, got dh a much cheaper one and they are pretty much the same. Oral b tend to be the best brand but don’t feel like you need to splash out.

abitoflight · 15/12/2019 16:02

I have this one and think it's great. I don't think the oral b ones as good tbh. It seem to sort of vibrate and I can feel the water getting right between my teeth
Down from 300 to 89 on Amazon at the moment

myfuckingfreezer · 15/12/2019 16:05

Get an oral b round head. Beyond that it's all gimmicks.

Oral b are the highest rated year after year. Definitely worth it

AuntSpiker · 15/12/2019 16:14

I've got an Oral B and a Sonicare. Like them both, but talking to the dental hygienist recently, she thinks the Oral B is better. That's also the one my dentist uses. The pressure sensor is a really good idea. That said, the battery life on the Sonicare is much better.

Whichever you buy, don't go for any fancy extras, you really won't use them. My Oral B has Bluetooth and I've never used it, is a waste of time. Oh and there are always half price deals on somewhere so don't rush into a lightning deal today if you aren't sure.

Floralnomad · 15/12/2019 16:17

The hygienist at our dentist says Oral B , so that’s what dh and I use but dd has a Phillips Sonicare as she has a very small mouth and the heads are better for her on that .

DragonontheWagon · 15/12/2019 16:30

I've used an electric oral B one for over 20 years.

Just replaced ours and paid £45 for a two pack with pressure sensors. That's an excellent feature because I do tend to brush too hard.

Personally I'd never use a manual brush again.

As others have said, you really don't need one that connects to your phone.

FreyaMountstuart · 15/12/2019 16:44

Fairywell - have found it much better than oral B and Phillips soni - and was only about £15! Highly recommend

OrangeTwirlGate · 15/12/2019 16:53

Great. Thanks everyone.

Later tonight I’m going to look at them all based on your advice/ recommendations and buy one.
