Random Acts of Kindness

After feeling so down about the results of the election yesterday, (and playing knock a door run with a miniture red rose Bush for a labour member that's campaigned her arse off) it's made me want to do more nice things for people.
Would anyone be interested if I set up a group where we all put ideas in and carried out a random act of kindness each week ( or more if you wanted).
I thought we could all do it and report back on how it went etc.

Anyone interested?

I won the office sweepstake for the election. It did not sit well with me, but at that point an appeal for a local refugee Christmas lunch came up on a local Facebook group, so they are now £56 better off and I feel it's one in the eye for anyone who voted based on stopping immigration. You am in. #smallvictories

I’m in with random acts of kindness

LatteLady - that's so lovely

TheLittleBrownFox · 15/12/2019 12:03

I'd be up for it :) I tried and didn't get very far a few years back - I just couldn't decide on things to do and at the time was very skint so things that cost money were hard. I did tape a coin bag with the correct money for a stay and a note explaining it was a RAOK to a parking machine, though Smile

DP has just picked me a load of mistletoe and I'm going to make little posies to leave on desks.

fruitandbarley · 15/12/2019 12:09

Ok happy to use this thread. I just thought it might be easier to share pictures on Facebook or WhatsApp.

I quite enjoyed the knock a door run the other night. I'm thinking of doing it again with chocolate or tin of biscuits to one of our neighbours after dark so it's easier to run away.

I’d love to join in.
Just going to think about what I can do now.

Feelingabitashamed · 15/12/2019 14:02

A man insisted on paying for my hot chocolate as a RAOK so I cut and gave to a neighbour some of my holly and ivy for her Christmas wreaths to pay it forward.

Mistletoe posies made.

I was actually thinking about doing 30 acts of kindness for my 30th birthday next year. Not sure how I'm going to finance it but would love some ideas please.

MattieRoss · 15/12/2019 16:41

I'm not based in my workplace tomorrow but I've made mince pies and I'm going to drop them in before everyone arrives and scarper.

InMySpareTime · 15/12/2019 17:06

A few acts of kindness from this week:
I gave mince pies to the tellers at the polling station on Thursday.
I was in a cafe, someone brought in a child in a wheelchair as it was cold and rainy, and the child was getting cold. They didn't have money to buy anything so I bought them a drink.
I was early at church so I left chocolate coins on the lectern and the keyboard for people to find in the service.
I found out a friend had been let down on Christmas plans, so invited him to spend Christmas with us.

I’m in! Love this .

Wildernesstips · 15/12/2019 17:12

I love that idea Bobbiepin. I think Danny Wallace wrote a book about Random Acts of Kindness

As long as it doesn't cost me money, I'm in. Skint at the moment Haha.

delilabell · 15/12/2019 17:24

I'm in. A little girl fell over today and was sobbing as her dad cuddled her. I gave her a little chocolate snowman as I walked past.

Tana433 · 15/12/2019 17:52

Count me in. What a lovely idea.

fruitandbarley · 15/12/2019 19:12

Right I've invited a friend of my husband for Christmas day as know hes on his own, and have bought some orange chocolate matchsticks, just got to decide where to deliver them to.

I've just offered lifts to a bunch of dd's friends later so that their parents don't have to go out in the cold to collect them. 🙂

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/12/2019 19:30

I've just done a Sainsbo's order and put in a bunch of toiletries to go to a local homeless charity. Had been thinking about doing it for weeks, but this thread spurred me on!

feathermucker · 15/12/2019 19:32

aibutohavethisusername · 15/12/2019 19:38

One year I sent a meat hamper Anonymously to my two children and a very dear friend.
Was so funny as her husband was arguing with the butcher at the door that no they hadn’t ordered it...then looked in the list and saw my children’s names and the penny dropped. As to who sent it.
Mum had just died and I wanted to do something for my loved ones.

Dowser · 15/12/2019 20:56

Mum was on a bus in Vegas and a man got on with no small change for the fare
So she got up and paid it for him

She was then rewarded with loose slots 😂

LazyDaisey · 15/12/2019 20:57

Last week, I saw a huge stack of mince pie packs reduced from £2 to 20 pence as they expired that day during morning grocery shop. Bought 10 boxes and randomly gave them away throughout the day... neighbour, postie, teachers at school pick up, swimming lesson... everyone loved the excuse of gotta eat them -expire today!
