Dessert for six people

I've got to take a dessert to a Christmas party tonight. For six people. No other parameters.

I'm completely lacking in inspiration. What's quick and easy? Please help!

Trifle?

winewolfhowls · 14/12/2019 15:28

Cranachan?

Wonkybanana · 14/12/2019 16:02

Trifle always goes well.

Tiramisu

babyonway2020 · 14/12/2019 16:03

Or Lidl do a HUGE mint chocolate cheesecake in their Christmas range would feed 8!

midsomermurderess · 14/12/2019 16:04

Pavlova. Buy the meringue base then it couldn't be simpler.

Honeybee85 · 14/12/2019 16:06

Pavlova cake is delicious and easy to make. And it looks festive and impressive.

Panna Cotta with red fruits is divine too and also not very difficult.

If I really couldn’t be arsed to make a pudding for guests, I always bought cinnamon icecream and served it in nice bowls with red fruits (frozen ones from Lidl) on top. Looks impressive and tastes heavenly!

RockingAroundTheXMasTree · 14/12/2019 16:06

Trifle or Tiramisu. Both Lidl and Tesco do really good ones!

INeedNewShoes · 14/12/2019 16:06

Chocolate pots are quite straightforward (15 minutes to prepare and then bung in oven for ten minutes just before serving).

They're delicious and are a luxurious treat (as long as you like chocolate).

This recipe makes '5 pots' but they're so rich I would happily split the mixture between 6 pots.

Buy a Vienetta.

Can you tell I don't host if I can help it.

Wonkybanana · 14/12/2019 16:22

Or poach peeled whole pears in a bottle of mulled wine (kept at a gentle simmer) for 20 minutes. Leave to cool in the wine, serve with ice cream or cream and a spoonful of the wine.

Thanks all. I still can't decide but that's given me some great options. Panic over!

Brandy snap baskets (shop bought), whipped cream slightly sweetened with icing sugar with berries soaked in amaretto on top, bit of grated choc to finish.

noenergy · 14/12/2019 16:55

Trifle or Pavlova are always my go to desserts.

RockingAroundTheXMasTree · 14/12/2019 16:57

I want all of the above now... Hmm

Ursaminor · 14/12/2019 18:03

Pavlova, and add the cream just before serving - good for gluten intolerants, and without the cream, the lactose intolerants can have a desert too.

Magicmama92 · 14/12/2019 18:36

If you buy something then a cheesecake or yule log? If you make something then it has to be something that will set properly in time. It would probably be easier to buy something now as I sont think a trifle would set and not enough time to bake cool and decorate anything.

DelurkingAJ · 14/12/2019 19:23

Mary Berry’s no cook lemon cheesecake is super easy if you have a few hours to let it set.

TitchyP · 14/12/2019 19:26

Banoffi pie, recipe on side of caramel carnation tin Grin Takes about 20 mins

alphajuliet123 · 14/12/2019 19:45

I bought some homemade brandy snaps at a craft fair the other day - filled with fresh whipped cream and drizzled in melted dark chocolate. OMG they were delicious and totally reminded me of the 80's!

INeedNewShoes · 14/12/2019 19:48

I really want brandy snaps now! They are such a faff to make though and I haven't found bought ones compatible with my allergies.
