What bugs are going round your DC primary school?

DD is in reception. We almost got through the first term with no sickness. She’s now had two bouts in two weeks. I know they get sick, especially at this time of year and in new environments. We’ve been there, done that before with nursery Grin

The first was a sickness bug that passed fairly quickly. This second one is taking a bit longer and I wondered if anyone else’s has had something similar?

Got sent home from after school club early with a high temp. A bit snotty and generally lethargic. Been off for two days and still not up to her normal Sat AM activity today. She has a bit of a heat rash (or maybe viral rash?) that came up on day 2 and has faded but not gone completely yet. She also complains of a headache and sore throat on and off. She’s eating and is chatty enough, but mostly just resting all the time.

I’m not overly worried, but she normally sees these things off after a couple of days. Does this sound familiar to anyone and if so, how long did it take to pass?

Loads of her classmates have been off over the last few weeks too so I know there is plenty doing the rounds.

Answering my own question here but having done a bit of reading around I’m thinking it’s slapped cheek.

I work in a school and we had some kids with red cheeks yesterday funnily enough. We have a sickness bug where kids have diarrhoea , yet parents still send their kids in. Guess who has to clean up children and the toilets where the shit goes everywhere? We have immune compromised staff and one who has been extremely poorly to the point where she can’t come to work ever again. Never mind that though, not missing a gym sesh is waaay more important. Pisses me off so much.

Chicken pox is rife in my DDs school at the moment.

It's sad that all the hard work gone into preparing school plays, Christmas dinners, parties etc will be missed by so many children

Slapped cheek and scarlet fever have been reported at our primary in the past week. Norovirus at our secondary, and what sounds like most of the secondary schools in the area!
