It's the Wildlife Adventure Tree House. Some reviews say it takes hours and others 20 mins!

Leave for the child or to do it together depending on age.

ipswichwitch · 13/12/2019 19:47

We have one and if definitely say it’s for an adult to assemble. Some of the bits are hard to click in place so a child would find it tricky

Arthritica · 13/12/2019 19:47

Leave it for the child. That's the fun of Christmas morning, building (sometimes with a parent) the gifts.

laikalooo · 13/12/2019 19:47

Definitely assemble - and don’t leave it until Christmas Eve!

ipswichwitch · 13/12/2019 19:47

The hospital was a nightmare!

Whitelisbon · 13/12/2019 19:48

There is no joy whatsoever to be had in a child assembling playmobil. Theres even less joy when you're building the shitting stuff on christmas day while cooking dinner and trying to stop said child from moaning about the fact they want to play with their fucking farmhouse and it's still in bits.
In case you hadn't guessed, build it in advance. They're twats.

ipswichwitch · 13/12/2019 19:48

Yes, don’t leave it til Christmas Eve when you’ve had a few - that probably added to the difficulty factor 😂

Whitelisbon · 13/12/2019 19:49

@ipswichwitch the school brought me to tears. And then it got stood on and broken and I had to rebuild it Angry

cowfacemonkey · 13/12/2019 19:50

Ahh fond memories of spending three hours building the pirate ship on Christmas Eve. IMO kids just want to get on a play with Playmobile there is no joy in the assembly part for them (or me!)

Grin

The box rattles quite alarmingly, it sounds like millions of bits.

Build it and give careful consideration to superglueing it together as you do. It's not lego- it's not supposed to come apart again.

Purchase additional tupperware tubs in which to keep the 80 billion tiny accessories.

queenqueenqueen · 13/12/2019 20:08

Omg we had a pony play set that was an absolute nightmare last year!!! Me and my 16 year old nephew took over an hour to set it up and also had reinforcements !!! definitely do it before x

RaindropsAndSnowdrops · 13/12/2019 20:09

I'm doing an IKEA run on Monday (God help me)- additional tubs now on the list!

Definitely build yourself first

Arthritica · 13/12/2019 20:18

Wow, I guess we're outliers. My kids loved building Playmobil (with parental help as needed) on Christmas Day.

SuzanneSays · 13/12/2019 20:19

We have the tree house- it took bloody hours to build on Xmas morning, made is late and dd couldn’t play with it cos it was time to go by the time it was built! Doing Xmas eve!

I’d the pyramid any easier anyone?

OverByYer · 13/12/2019 20:20

I used to assemble before

MayFayner · 13/12/2019 20:21

God was it that bloody pony farm stables thing?? Angry Angry

Mooey89 · 13/12/2019 20:22

Santa DH builds the playmobil on Christmas Eve - takes hours especially after Christmas Eve drinks 🤦‍♀️

MayFayner · 13/12/2019 20:22

Sorry OP- in answer to your question: build it in advance!

ShinyGiratina · 13/12/2019 20:27

I'm still tormented by the memory of the fucking firestation from the burning infernoes from Hell. It took DH hours to assemble, and he normally makes light work of anything self-assembly/ construction/ DIY.

As if that wasn't enough, the blasted thing steadfastly refused to stay together. Then bits got lost in the general chaos of the playroom. It then antagonised me every time I tried to tidy up, the insult being how bloody expensive the thing was. Eventually the majority of it got hurled into a bin bag in a bout of PMT. Random parts are still turning up years later.

The DCs never played with the fucker either.

Ditto to Tracey Island.

DuggeesWoggle · 13/12/2019 20:40

Oh dear. I bought the gingerbread bakery in a fit of festive 'must have it!' when I saw the advert on Facebook. I thought it would be something that both DCs can play with over the years. DD is a baby still and DS has just turned 4 so probably won't have much patience... To be fair I think I bought it as much for me to play with as the DCs Blush

WellTidy · 13/12/2019 20:46

Assemble it in advance. Our Playmobil days are over but I spent hours upon end before various Christmases assembling the school, police station, pet clinic and stables, aeroplane, camper van ...

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 13/12/2019 20:46

I wanted a clockwork train set and a Lego helicopter for Christmas when I was five. I had all these images in my head of putting them together and building them all by myself, putting the key into the locomotive and winding it up myself.

Got to christmas morning. The track was glued together in a circle and the extra parts thrown away. The key was glued in with araldite, had dripped down the side and partially jammed the mechanism so I could only turn it 3/4 of the way round, giving it a running time of 1 second or a third of the way round the circle. And they had glued the Lego together.

I had no interest in either as a result. No point having them when somebody else had ruined them for me.

They got stuffed under my bed for the next ten years.

FairyOnTheTree · 13/12/2019 20:49

Definitely before and if it's a knights castle be sure to keep the instructions because you will be rebuilding the fucking thing on a regular basis.
