Any dentists on here? Sore lump on gum

Hi
I was wondering if there are any dentists on here or anyone who has experienced similar symptoms.
On the top right gum at the back of my mouth above the last molar (or even slightly further back) there is a hard lump about the size of a pea. It is sore to touch and feels like it has an ulcer on it (like an open wound type thing).
I don't think it is an abscess as I went to the dentist two weeks ago and was told that everything looked fine with my teeth. Also thought it could be a wisdom tooth but I am probably a bit old for that (30). Ihave had ulcers before but never had this hard lump underneath one before.
Does anyone know what this could be and whether I need to see the dentist today?
I would rather not go if possible as I've got a really bad sore throat, cough and cold.

Thank you!

Did you have an x Ray at the dentist? They should be able to see from that if you have wisdom teeth coming through. 30 is not too old

I had something similar and it was an infection on the root of the second to back tooth. No other symptoms and tooth seemed OK from just a check up. The x-ray revealed infection.

When I had this it was an infection and I ended up needing a root canal. I’d go back t the dentist.

Thank you! I did have an x ray and the dentist said it looked fine so now I'm not sure.
I don't want to go and it just turns out to be a giant ulcer or something Blush

Honestly I would go back OP (different dentist) and specifically ask for it to be looked at stating that it is causing pain, you can ask for an urgent appointment if there is any pain. It sounds like an infection/abscess as a result of one. As other have said you may need a root canal or antibiotics and best to get cracking now or you may regret it over xmas when it's hard to see anyone. Better safe than sorry, even if it is just an infection the dentist can prescribe antibiotics.
