Natural candles that actually smell!

I love the Glade spiced apple at this time of year –it really fills the house with a Christmassy smell.

However, I know it's full of nasty chemicals (and has possibly been making the cat puke, poor thing!).

Any recommendations for natural, non-chemical candles that do actually scent the house? I keep buying ones that smell good in the shop but give out absolutely nothing when you light them! Help!

It's quite a subtle smell but I think beeswax candles are lovely.

I've also found that with natural candles, the wax is highly scented when solid but once the candle is lit I can only smell them when standing right by it. Diptyque and Jo Malone do have much better 'throw' (how far the scent goes) and I can smell them all over our flat when I have one lit but not natural, probably better than a glade though. I generally use essential oils in a diffuser now, and you can adjust how much you want to put in to increase the potency, plus pick your own combinations. You could probably pick up a cheap diffuser and set of basic oils on Amazon for less than you'd pay for a mid sized Diptyque. You have to check which oils are suitable for use around animals though.

Hm, thanks. I was thinking Jo Malone and might have to just splash out, I know you need to take out a second mortgage for them... anyone know if they are a bit less full of chemical nasties than supermarket air freshener-type brands?? I would hope so... not sure tho'...
