It's showing at my local theatre next year and tickets are on sale now. Worth a watch????

It's excellent, thought provoking, great music. But if you are easily offended by crude language , or if you are religious, you might have a few issues , lol. I loved it since I am anti religion and don't mind a swear word or two. And the music is great - I play the soundtrack quite often at home, and sing along. I'd recommend it.

LaurieFairyCake · 12/12/2019 09:28

It's incredibly funny and well written

I'm 'religious', even funnier to me Grin

Skyejuly · 12/12/2019 09:29

I enjoyed it. (I'm NOT religious)

CatsCatsCats11 · 12/12/2019 09:31

One of my faves the music is brilliant, not for the easily offended though. Hoping to see it for the 3rd time next year.

Sahara123 · 12/12/2019 09:31

I’d agree, saw it in the West End and absolutely loved it. Full of life and very funny. Music & dancing is fab, and I don’t even like musicals much! I am wondering what a small local production would be like though? And yes, if you are likely to be offended by some sending up of religion, homosexuality, race ( the black man behind me was NOT happy), bad language and general rudeness it may not be for you! I would search for some reviews first maybe and read up about the story.

kjhkj · 12/12/2019 09:32

I saw it two weeks ago in london. It is fantastic. The songs and music are amazing. They've been going round in my head ever since. So much laughing out loud in the theatre.

Don't go if you're easily offended about religious issues or language though (although I actually think you'd still be a robot if you didn't enjoy it).

donquixotedelamancha · 12/12/2019 09:35

or if you are religious, you might have a few issues

Only if you are the sort of 'religious' that thinks Life of Brian should be banned. I'm not a fan of musicals but BoM is fantastic.

Mumdiva99 · 12/12/2019 09:36

I've seen it and liked it but didn't love it. I preferred the soundtrack on its own to the show. I found it crude for crudeness sake in some places. But then I also don't like South Park but I do love theatre!

GreatestShowUnicorn · 12/12/2019 09:37

@Sahara123 don't think it's open to local productions yet so OP's local theatre must be one on the national tour.

OllyBJolly · 12/12/2019 09:39

I know I'm in a minority but I really didn't enjoy it and would have left if we hadn't been middle of the row.

I just didn't find it funny. It was like a high school performance of Monty Python but not as clever.

But everyone I know who has been has raved about it.

ajandjjmum · 12/12/2019 09:42

Glad I'm not the only one Mumdiva99 and OllyBJolly!

DS loved it and bought us tickets - it was a very pleasant evening, but I didn't love it. I would possibly go and see it at a local theatre, but not trek down to London.

Hamilton on the other hand........

Rosere · 12/12/2019 09:43

@olly I didn't like it either. Am a massive fan of musicals, am not easily offended, heard great things .. Just didn't like it. Tickets were extortionate or we would have prob left too.

ShiningTor · 12/12/2019 09:47

Absolutely loved it, DP already booked for us to go again next year.

wishing4sun · 12/12/2019 13:29

I have never laughed so much went to London for my birthday, I have seen a lot of shows and this is way near the top as my all time favourite.

Foslady · 12/12/2019 14:24

My favourite musical - and even though you might be offended there also some good morality points raised in it - gone there with good hearts to give hope, not to judge unkindly your fellow man, nor abandon your friends just because your life isn’t the way you want it, how sometimes it’s kinder to speak from your heart than your beliefs.......can you see I’ve been rehearsing my speech when I’m at hells gate in a hand cart?!!😂😂😂

Foslady · 12/12/2019 14:26

Try YouTubing Hasa Digha Ebowi - if you can cope with that you’ll love it!

Itsashame · 12/12/2019 14:26

My friend went, not religious or easily offended at all but said it was meh!

Mumdiva99 · 12/12/2019 15:03

@ajandjjmum see I was SO looking forward to Hamilton that I was a little disappointed in the end. I think the hype had built it up so much. That and the really expensive tickets - on the other hand Come From Away bowled me over (£17.50). And I had a great time at Jamie on a Saturday night for £25 - which I thought was such better value! (I also paid over £100 for Book of Mormon which might have coloured my view).

bruffin · 12/12/2019 15:12

I loved it, my religeous friends loved it. The girl on the hajib next to me was creased up with laughter. I've won lottery twice for Mormon so only paid 20 a tickets, also won lottery on same day for Jamie and was underwhelmed

Apolloanddaphne · 12/12/2019 15:14

It is so good. I have seen it twice and would go back again.

Oliversmumsarmy · 12/12/2019 15:23

Hamilton on the other hand

Was really not great.

kjhkj · 12/12/2019 15:32

Hamilton on the other hand
Was really not great.

La la la - I'm not listening . I've had to practically remortgage the house since Hamilton tickets were the only thing DS1 wanted for Christmas. It had better be good...

Oliversmumsarmy · 12/12/2019 15:38

I saw a theatre school do Hamilton.

I much preferred their version.

79andnotout · 12/12/2019 15:40

I thought it was a bit meh, but we got really expensive seats at my friends request and there was a really tall guy in front of me so I couldn't see very well, and I hate musicals, so some lessons learnt there.

ArtistOfTheFloatingWorld · 12/12/2019 23:17

I had a nice evening but didn't love it. There seems to be a bit of an assumption that anyone who doesn't love it is a bit of a prude, but I don't think that's very fair - it just wasn't my sort of humour and at times it felt like they were trying to be offensive for the sake of it and not very clever. I think the comparison to South Park is a good one - if you like South Park you'll probably like Book of Mormon.
