Voting

Suddenly hit me this afternoon that I will be voting tomorrow in a place where I'm still a new face. The polling station is about 200 yards from our home.

Am I daft for being slightly worried that the volunteers who are likely to be local stalwarts (I don't know exactly who) might gossip about how the new woman might be voting? I've already decided not to wear colours that could be taken as political preference.

Who are the 'volunteers' ? The polling clerks are paid for their (very full) day's work, are probably from miles away, won't know you from Adam, and care even less.

I have a friend who works as polling station clerk; we live in a small town where everyone knows everyone. Friend will not give a second's thought to wondering how anyone is voting. She just has a job to do to run the polling station.

I heard on radio that you CAN wear political slogan clothing into a polling station (who knew). But you can't use your voice to try to influence anyone's vote while in there, or give them leaflets, etc.

That's interesting @lljkk. I wouldn't normally vote with political badges etc., I am perhaps just a bit paranoid.

How would they know? You pop it in the ballot box yourself, don’t you?

I know, daft isn't it? I'm just conscious it's likely to be a small room in a small building and maybe, just maybe, someone could sneak a look.

I've been a poll clerk many times in my local area, and have seen many people I know come in to vote. Believe me when I say that there is no way we would/could ever sneak a look.
The only thing I've ever passed slight judgement on is spotting people I know on the list that haven't come in and voted at all.
