Has anyone noticed a change in the way the Daily Mail are reporting on Boris?

I quite often like to browse the DM website when I’m bored(don’t shoot me), and had got used to the Corbyn slurs and bashing that they have been publishing for weeks.

However in the last 48 hours something has changed, the anti Corbyn stuff is still there but they are becoming ever so slightly critical of Boris. It’s not even that subtle either.

I wonder what their game is?

Don’t worry you’re in good company when you browse the daily mail, there’s me and the queen as well
Probably prince andrew, Charles, Philip William,Kate, Edward, Sophie, Beatrice, Eugenie , fergie

And hundreds of courtiers... all having a good laugh!

I wonder what their game is?

Practising their "Don't blame us" line, when Boris fucks up (again) as PM ?

ThatSeventiesLass · 11/12/2019 16:39

I wondered if they thought they were too blatant and too outrageous with their relentless propaganda and that people were not believing the shit they were writing anymore.

Can I point out that, as much as we like to think we aren't influenced by their propaganda, you clearly are if you're calling one "Boris" and the other "Corbyn". Would you have ever called Theresa May "Theresa"?

Johnson is not your pal, don't fall into this spin of addressing him like he is one.

ManonBlackbeak · 11/12/2019 16:54

I don’t want him to be my pal, I think he’s a twat.

Selfsettling3 · 11/12/2019 16:57

I don’t read it but after the phone stealing and hiding in a fridge incident I imagine it’s getting more difficult to publicly be seen supporting him.

TeenPlusTwenties · 11/12/2019 16:57

Boris is Boris because there is only one Boris in politics
Whereas there is more than one Johnson.

Similarly Corbyn is Corbyn because there is more than one Jeremy.

StealthPolarBear · 11/12/2019 16:59

Hiding in a fridge?

JockTamsonsBairns · 11/12/2019 16:59

What MrsMaisel said. I have never come across them being termed Jeremy and Johnson - and it seeps into the subconscious that "Boris" is a loveable chum.

JockTamsonsBairns · 11/12/2019 17:02

Teen in articles relating to the upcoming general election, how many other politicians by the name of Jeremy could the newspapers be referring to?

I agree we say Boris because it’s distinctive. A bit like Piers, Cheryl or Lulu. They don’t need surnames, they are distinctive. It doesn’t mean we don’t think they are total arses..

Adele, Twiggy and Oprah OTOH are all absolutely lovely and I would vote for any party led by them over the one led by the blond, lying tosspot that is Boris.

TeenPlusTwenties · 11/12/2019 17:08

Well, Jeremy Hunt for a start?

CollaterlieSistersSister · 11/12/2019 17:12

Yeah I’ve noticed this.

It also used to be all “Boris is trouncing Comrade Corbyn”, but changed tack in last couple of days. I’d presumed it’s because they thought people may think Tory win is done & dusted so won’t vote. So now they’re daring to mention prospect of Labour win / hung parliament to rally the Tory masseeeeve.

Love a DM trawl. It’s my favourite comic.

ForalltheSaints · 11/12/2019 17:15

It may be a tactic to get the vote out, the possibility of a hung parliament.

ManonBlackbeak · 11/12/2019 17:18

Is a hung parliament really likely though? Are the polls ever wrong?

I wonder if they are getting ready to chuck him under a bus at some stage in the near future?

ThinkIamflyingundertheradar · 11/12/2019 17:20

Polls were very wrong for Brexit and for the last election TM called too.

MarianaMoatedGrange · 11/12/2019 17:28

Boris bravely hiding from Piers Morgan in a fridge

To be fair, if I was confronted by Piers Morgan, I'd jump into the nearest fridge too.

Selfsettling3 · 12/12/2019 09:57

But this is a man who needs to stand up and talk to other world leaders he can’t hide then.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 12/12/2019 10:02

Maybe they're just doing what they think the public want them to do.
Labour aren't doing well in the polls - slate them.
Tories start doing slightly worse than they were - slate them.

YouRemindMeOfTheBabelfish · 12/12/2019 10:10

First name usage can mean a level of comradeship. But it could also be seen as a negative towards BJ (a much more fitting name, he's little more than a jumped up cum stain) because it lacks respect to not call someone by their full name, or Mr SoAndSo, or sir...

And I saw plenty of stuff about TM with just Theresa written down, no surname or abbreviation. Maybot was good.
