Is he right? I assumed I’d need to go to the PO!

No you need to post it as an overseas letter.

He's wrong. Two first class ones will do the trick though.

He's wrong! I just sent a Christmas card to friends in Dublin yesterday, normal card nothing big or heavy and it cost £1.35.

Holymolymackerel · 11/12/2019 13:31

You do need to go to the PO.
Dublin is in Ireland which is a different country. Same as if it were France, Spain, USA etc.

BikeRunSki · 11/12/2019 13:32

It’s overseas, needs more postage!

Dublin in not in the uk. Standard airmail to europe is £1.25 up to 20g, and a 1st class stamp is currently 67p. Therefore, so long as it weighs less than 20g, it will need 2x1st class stamps

Rollergirl11 · 11/12/2019 13:32

That’s what I thought! Silly man. 🤦‍♀️

Nope I'm just back from the seventh circle of hell post office. I'm in NI so a first class/second class stamp for all other UK destinations and different stamps for my cards to Dublin what with it not being in the UK. My mum used to stick two first class stamps on hers but they got held onto a few years ago so she doesn't do it anymore.
