Universal credit

Started on universal credit in August. As part of my claim, submitted fit note signing me off work, this was followed by a further fit note and a work capability assessment. I was found to have limited capability for work and work related activities and told my first payment would be this month and any back pay would be made (but not when). I checked my statement this morning and can see the payment of the disability bit is included. Am I correct to think that there's no back pay being made before next month, or will I get a surprise on my payment day?

When I was claiming UC a back payment was made completely separately as it was dealt with by a different department. You could ask the question on your journal?

The LCWRA element is paid from the fourth Uc assessment period after you started handing in sick notes so I think it would start form this month.

Thanks. @Babyroobs the LCWRA is showing up on the statement, but I was told when I called them last month that it would be dated as from August so I would get a back payment. That isn't showing up on the statement, so I'm guessing that the person I spoke to got it wrong or that it isn't put on the statement and just paid whenever.

No you were given wrong information. The LCWRA element is starts form the fourth Uc assessment period. If, from August you were getting some earnings or SSP I think the work allowance is backdated to the start of your claim - the work allowance is an amount that is disregarded from wages/ ssp before they start to reduce your UC.

@Babyroobs Until August, I wasn't getting anything. No SSP because my earnings hadn't been high enough to qualify. I was off sick from work and still sending sick notes in, but getting nothing. It was only giving up university due to my health issues that enabled me to get any help from the DWP. Until that point, despite being on the verge of a wheelchair, I was (and still am) classed as not disabled enough for PIP and, when I pointed out on the phone to UC and ESA people the situation I was in I simply got a shrug and "go to your food bank." Even when I explained that I'm no longer able to cook (unable to lift a pan or even a kettle and due to needing to sit down often can't use the microwave due to space issues in my kitchen) so I wasn't sure a food bank would be practical, I was told that was my only option. The food banks local to me agreed with me that there wasn't much point to me using them so I had to rely on an app for ready made sandwiches.
I was told by the DWP that the claim would be backdated to when my first fit note was handed to them. But then it shouldn't surprise me that they lied.
