Silver St Christopher?
Or if you're religious a children's book of Bible stories.

Can't remember what my DC got, it's so long ago! 😁

I got personalised little stools for my grandsons.

I'd buy a Noah's ark

Appreciate this is a bit random but I Recently bought a family annual pass to local farm as a christening present (they go regularly), plus a soft toy of the favourite farm animal, and a bag of feed. They got so many keepsakes I didn't want to add to the pile!

Another friend bought a them a tree - Not on the High Street I think - which was lovely.

Woodland Trust are running a campaign to get more trees planted to combat climate change. I think the donation is £1.50/tree, maybe worth considering?

Saving the planet for today's children to enjoy?

I like giving a voucher for Clark's for their first pair of shoes. Always goes down well.

Thank you all so much, some great ideas so far!

A bottle os port or similar spirit that will mature on his 18th birthday assuming his parents are not averse to alcohol . We did this for our nephew many years ago and was a nice touch on his birthday .

I was given a silver bangle - too small to wear now, china plates etc - no young kid is actually allowed to use china, a bible - lovely but by the time I was school age we used a different version.....

Get something the kid can actually enjoy when young or will help in the future (premium bond).

Or buy the parents a present to help them remember the day.

A set of the Beatrix Potter books.

I gave my godson a small wooden chest that's beautifully carved and can be locked. Something to keep his prized possessions and secrets in.

Practical - child can use them whilst they are little. Then can be kept or put away for the next generation.

My friend said her little one found the Arthur Price year of birth ones easier to hold.

I remember mine and my sibling's cutlery sets being in the kitchen drawers for years. Dunno what happened to them.

An apple tree.
