Made sure I signed up way in advance to vote but I still haven't got my polling card. Is anyone else in the same position? Can I vote??

You can still vote. Just bring some ID.

nurseyn · 10/12/2019 11:01

You don't need your poll card or ID.

Are you allowed to vote in general elections - the rules are different for local/general/European.

Are you definitely registered to vote? My polling card came a while back.

nurseyn · 10/12/2019 11:19

100% @Llareggub

Have you rung your own council? Surely that's a more useful thing that posting on MN?

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 10/12/2019 11:31

My polling card always comes after the election. I'm registered and have never been refused my vote.

Lemuriformes · 10/12/2019 12:06

I had the same question - contacted my council this morning and received email confirmation and a copy of my polling card an hour later. So I would do that.

SpoonBlender · 10/12/2019 12:42

The card specifically says on it "You do not need to take this card with you in order to vote". So that's fine.

It's too late to sort out a "why the fuck am I not registered?" issue now, so just go along and vote.

Personally I'd take photo ID with my address, but I wouldn't volunteer it. They should not ask for it, but I'm not risking not voting in this one.

You don’t need your card to vote but you do need to know where to go. We’ve always gone to the local secondary school but this time it’s a pub and my friend who lives closer to the pub is voting at the school, which is closer to us

drivinmecrazy · 10/12/2019 13:43

My DD1 has this issue with voting at her university address. She has a polling card for her home address but was concerned she didn't have one for uni address despite being registered with both.
A quick phone call to the electoral services at her local uni constituency cleared it up and confirmed she is eligible to vote in either place without polling card

Damntheman · 10/12/2019 14:11

Mine apparently hasn't arrived with my proxy yet. My proxy has hers! So I suspect the council have cocked up again.. Wouldn't be the first time an overseas voter got screwed over! I suspect I'll recieve it as a postal ballot three weeks after election day. It would be more frustrating but my constitutency is a safe Tory seat so my vote wouldn't have mattered anyway. It's just another sigh..

Hope yours shows up in time OP!
