polyhydramnios and feeding? Help!

Hello,

New to mumsnet and really after some information,

I had Polyhydramnios with my second child in the moderate bracket. Everything was fine lots of waters behind her at the birth but she was fine and fed well. Since about 7 weeks she began feeding less (bottle fed) taking about 20oz a day, she usually takes 2oz smoothly and then the last 3oz is on off on off until the bottle is done or sometimes she just refuses, sometimes she falls asleep (pretty normal for a 3 month old I guess). I have been to the GP who advised it may just change back to normal but it didn’t, we were referred to a paediatrician and she basically said because she is gaining weight and has good muscle tone, she can pull up, makes eye contact, smiles etc she’s meeting milestones so no concerns and she’s just a fussy feeder? She’s also had a partial tongue tie cut with no improvement.

I guess my major concern is...Polyhydramnios can be related to swallowing issues, which in turn can be a neurological thing... she does seem to get very tired when taking her bottle but doesn’t always fall asleep, she sleeps the average amount and only wakes once in the night for a feed. She can sometimes take a 5oz bottle no issues but this is about 1 in 20 bottles!

It sort of baffles me that the Pediatric doctors don’t want to do a swallow test to see if she has a swallowing problem...has anyone had a Polyhydramnios pregnancy and had this issue or can suggest/reassure...anything really! Am I over reacting or does anyone else think like me that Polyhydramnios and a feeding issue go hand in hand?

Hi, I realise this thread is ancient and you never received any replies but how did it turn out for you? I'm experiencing this exact same issue with my daughter. Did anything ever come of it?
