How much is your annual gas and leccy?

I just received my annual gas and electricity statements and wondered what other people pay.
For context we live in a new build (10 yrs old) one bed flat, me and partner and a 2 year old.
We spent £308 on gas for last 12 months
And £429 on electricity for last 12 months.

Is this normal?! Sounds like a lot to me and I am always nagging OH to turn heating/lights/appliances off!

Ours is £105 pcm for both. We have a four bed detached. There are four of us but I'm on mat leave so I'm home in the day! Should go down once I'm back at work.

Elbbob · 09/12/2019 12:57

Oh yes I should compare with last year when i was on mat leave.

New build(3 years old now) 1 bed flat, high rise, high floor. Live alone, so I imagine a lot less laundry than you Wink
£8 month electric (was 25, reduced due to over pay, expect will settle in the middle).
12-18 a month for heating and hot water, through community heat unit.

So approx £264 a year right now.

@jay55 ahh that's cheap. I'm sure mine was more than that when I lived here alone.

TokyoSushi · 09/12/2019 16:37

£117 per month here, 4 bed detached

charm8ed · 09/12/2019 16:38

We pay £92 per month for both. We have a very large new 4 bedroom house with a solar panel.

HotSince82 · 09/12/2019 16:46

223 a month for both with ovo.
Five bed Edwardian Semi.

ChasingRainbows19 · 09/12/2019 16:46

£70 a month direct debit covers all year including the increase in winter use. 3 bed 30's semi with improved insulation but still chilly at times ( high ceilings), and two of us. Usually have credit left over too. So that would be £840 a year.

Graphista · 09/12/2019 16:51

£1188 over the year for 2 bed tenement flat - high ceilings poor insulation old windows plus I'm stuck on sodding prepay thanks to previous tenant.

Really should get it sorted so I'm back on credit meter but that means possibly getting these meters ripped out and replaced at my expense and inconvenience which I can't do yet

lifeisgoodagain · 09/12/2019 16:57

£115 a month combined, detached older house

Gertie75 · 09/12/2019 17:01

£136 a month for large 4/5 bed detached, I work from home and have two young kids so use the washing machine at least once a day.
The balance gradually creeps up and I usually get a rebate of £200-£300 per year.

ifonly4 · 09/12/2019 17:10

£65pm covered both. We're in a converted two bed bungalow, ie two beds and bathroom added upstairs and extension on lounge which is pretty draughty as cold air seeps in through dormer cupboards and we have a cat flap on the northern elevation.

Either way OP, there's no point using power if you don't need it. Rate wise, we're with Bulb.

Stormblessed · 09/12/2019 17:11

£129 a month for both with OVO. 4 bed semi detached

mencken · 09/12/2019 17:13

do a comparison, remembering that the 'savings' are done on the variable tariffs and so are usually lies.

all that matters is standing charge and unit rate. And how much you use, of course.

Burlea · 09/12/2019 17:20

£84 for both. 3 bed dormer bungalow. Heating on most of the day as we are retired.

ClientListQueen · 09/12/2019 17:21
