It’s for a special school that I’m very familiar with , children from age 3-19 with some sort of additional need .

I’ve some training that is relevant, two years studying towards being a speech therapist, plus three years experience in NHS and years of personal experience as a carer . Familiar with supporting individuals with autism, Down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, learning difficulties (what we called PMLD at work), brain injuries and other rarer syndromes too . No up to date certificates in M&H etc but happy to do refreshers if I need to . Have done v basic child protection via nhs but through uni have done whole modules on GIRFEC, wellbeing indicators etc .

I’ve stuck my qualifications in a folder, old job paperwork (P45), ID etc . I’ve written out on my iPad a list of all previous work experience, placements for uni, training, and a list of achievements at work, and at home .

I can’t think of what they will ask though other than child protection - the job description wasn’t very detailed unfortunately although I can guess what’s involved ... I’m worried I’m going to go in and my mind will go blank . I’ve not had an interview for a job in a few years and fluffed up previous ones . Very anxious !

You'll be great, and you certainly sound well prepared!
They will almost certainly ask you what you would do, if a child confided something worrying to you.
Other than that, my mind has gone blank.
Good luck!

Be prepared to be observed in class with the children or young people, possibly a written task too.

I had an interview in a similar school and during the formal interview I was asked about safeguarding more than once so have a read of the school's policy if you can access it as I found it was a bit different to safeguarding in mainstream in places.

I was also asked what I felt I could bring to the role, what my strengths were and my biggest achievement to date among other questions.

Just be yourself, you sound like you know your stuff so try not to get too nervous. Good luck!
