Postal vote for students

My son has just informed me he has accidentally entered his dob incorrectly in his postal vote and is now stressing big time and is getting me confused too.
Can he just vote in person at his university town ( he has a polling card for there) and obviously not use his now incorrect postal vote? He is worrying so much about it. Hope someone with more knowledge about the voting system than me can help. I’ve only ever voted in person.
TIA

Has he posted the other one? Can he not correct it?

FeltCarrot · 08/12/2019 19:58

No he hasn’t posted it back yet. Are you allowed to correct the form?

Is his postal vote for your address? Is he registered at 2 addresses?

Ring the election people at the Council for advice.

If you've been issued a postal vote you won't get given a ballot paper at the polling station but you can hand in your postal vote to them if you've missed the post deadline.

Found this online:

What can I do if I have made a mistake when filling in my postal vote?

If you have ‘spoiled’ your postal vote, i.e. made a mistake when filling it in, then don’t worry! You can get a replacement, in person, from your Returning Officer up until 5pm on election day. You will also need to return your ‘spoiled’ postal vote paper (along with everything which came in the envelope with it). Speak to your Returning Officer about this.
If you don’t know where to find your returning officer, visit:www.yourvotematters.co.uk/register-to-vote/find-your-local-authorityand enter your postcode. You may need to prove your identity so please bring some photo ID (e.g. your passport) with you.
