Baby will only sleep in bouncer!

My ds is just over 3 weeks old and from the moment we came home he will just not sleep in either his Moses basket or swinging crib. He will only sleep in his vibrating bouncer. It’s now at the point I have created a new bedroom for myself in the couch just so I can get a couple of hours sleep here and there.
I know they aren’t meant to be in them longer than a couple of hours, but if I don’t he is uncontrollable and so unsettled.
Has anyone else had this and if so how did you go about it.
Feeling like a bit of a failure at the moment as I don’t remember it being this hard with my DD whonis 10. Or is is just cause I’m 10 years older?

You are not a failure. Babies are fickle creatures and as the new owner of one who changes like the wind not all things work. Have you tried a next to me bed? My baby hated his basket but slept a little better in one if those

I have seen them yes. I might have to purchase one and see if it makes a difference

Please do not let you baby sleep unattended in the bouncer. Not only will you create a rod for your own back it's dangerous.

I had this with my first but I found that once he was in a deep sleep I could transfer him to the Moses basket which I was happier with. He was diagnosed with silent reflux eventually though so I do think that played a part

I sound like a rep now as I’ve just posted this on another thread but this was my son until I got a Redcastle Cacoonababy it was a lifesaver and I just transferred it everywhere with him in Moses basket/my bed (is a high wedge so safe) floor anywhere. Good luck & congratulations!

OP have you tried bed sharing?

Robynlouise2009 · 08/12/2019 08:38

I’ve tried the transferring him in a deep sleep and as soon as he hits the basket eyes are wide open and screaming.
He’s never left unattended while in the bouncer, I’m right there at the side.
I think maybe I will speak to my hv

Is it possible he has silent reflux and needs an incline? You can try raising one end of the mattress (put a folded blanket under the mattress at the top) and see if this helps.

Thanks everyone for your advice.

We have the Babylo cozi sleeper that has incline settings so you can raise it up for a baby with reflux! It also clips to the side of the bed if you need it to!

I have a bouncer that when they fall asleep you can recline it completely flat and it turns into a moses basket. Might be worth a look?
