Walks and pub lunch in Lake District

Can anyone recommend walks and a dog friendly pub for lunch in the Lake District? We are going for a family weekend this month. Youngest child is four. We are staying near Water Yeat on the west side of Coniston Water. Thanks.

The Britannia inn at Elterwater is lovely for a meal. Park at elterwater, walk down along the riverside path which is a couple of miles. Goes to a great coffee shop called Chesters by the river. Then back to the pub for lunch.

In agreement with Stupiddriver1.
There is also the option of a walk in the Grizedale forest. Not too far from Coniston. Nice little trails that the kids can get involved in. Beautiful food at The Cuckoo Brow Inn in Far Sawrey (about 20 minute drive from the forest). Their Sunday roast dinners in particular are delicious. Our child and dog have always been made very welcome. It’s also near Hill Top (Beatrix Potters House).

There is a great walk up to beacon tarn from water yeat and if you continue up past the tarn the views are spectacular. You can drop down the other side for a pub I think but would probably be too far for a four year old. Rydal water has low paths along the water or caves if you go high and the Badger Bar does great food and is very dog friendly.

Also agree with @Stupiddriver1 I'm staying in a lodge right by Elterwater at the minute and have done this walk plenty of times.

A bit further away but the grounds at Wray Castle are lovely for a short walk with children. Unfortunately the castle itself is now shut for the winter (it is fantastic for small children as much of it is done out as a very imaginative indoor play area) but the grounds and cafe are still open.
I would second the suggestion of Grizedale. Very nice walks of varying lengths and difficulties and they have a kids activity walk based on the new Shaun the Sheep movie at the moment.
Another good day out that isnt too far is Muncaster Castle. The grounds are extensive with lots of different walks but there is plenty else to entertain children in the vicinity. The castle cafe is nice enough but I would go down the road to the Ratty Arms on the railway station at Ravenglass. It is a nice traditional pub with good food and I think I have seen dogs in.
Most of the other places I go to regularly are further north and west so are probably a bit far from where you are staying. But if you go into Bowness on Windermere at all I would recommend the Hole In t' Wall for good pub grub. Huge portions and a decent price by Bowness standards. The steak and ale pie is particularly good.
Hope you enjoy your trip.

The nicest walks in that area that are small child friendly are at Tarn Hows just north of Coniston. Stunning views (see pic). You can park up at the top by the water or down at Glen Mary bridge and follow the waterfalls up. It's a little steep but a good path and not too far.

The Church House Inn at Torver is lovely (dog friendly) and has a path up the old railway line behind it that takes you up towards the National Trust campsite Hoathwaite. You can get to the water from there where there is a jetty for the gondola. I don't know if it runs at this time of year though.

There is also a lovely path all the way along your side of the lake that is fairly flattish and has some wooded areas at the bottom end of the lake and then opens into more pebble beachy areas as you get towards Hoathwaite/Coniston Hall. The Ship Inn near that end is also dog friendly but I haven't eaten there, only had drinks.

In Coniston itself the Yewdale is also very dog friendly.
