Does anyone have experience of this? Is it helpful for children with suspected asd? We're really struggling as a family with the behaviour of our 4 year old and DH is so negative and moany that ds is refusing to engage with him and everything is falling to me. I need to know the right way to discipline him and don't know where to turn for help

I asked about this and the psychologist who diagnosed my DC said to stay away from it for children with ASD as it’s of course aimed at NT kids. There’s a specialist version (Stepping Stones) if you can get your hands on it (I haven’t yet as our LA provides standard Triple P but not this version and I’ve not yet looked into the private cost). Wine for you. It’s all a bugger and a half.

We did the Earlybird Plus course run by the National Autistic Society when our child with HFA was 6, it was brilliant and very helpful. He's 17 now and the things we learned are still useful. I'd recommend that if you can get it.

did it as part of nanny training.
was great for most dc, but awful for add/adhd dc.
no experience with asd

I did this course and its end coincided with both my children being diagnosed with ADHD and ADHD /AS respectively. I had to unlearn everything they taught me - it didn't work anyway.
We then got courses geared towards the need of our children. Sometimes I felt like a drill sergeant but their lives and ours became so much easier.

Thanks for replies, you've confirmed what I suspected. Can anyone re any reading for managing behaviour in asd children?

The Explosive Child and other books by the same author are good.

Few books I would recommend (ds has autism)

123 magic.

The explosive child.

The incredible years.

The out of sync child.

Raising a sensory smart child.
