Could people tell me which they prefer? I haven't looked up the cost of each so that may end up being a factor. Or any other gems that I have missed?
Thank you!

I have tried Gousto and Mindful Chef. Mindful chef are healthier meals, but I prefered Gousto meals and instructions. All meal boxes are expensive so I stopped after the trial period.

puds11 · 07/12/2019 20:59

Gousto. Hello Fresh is not fresh and I found it quite boring.

han01uk · 07/12/2019 21:00

Very disappointed in the quality of gousto so have gone back to hello fresh. Hand to be able to live delivery date, skip a week,or cancel at any time. I always get voucher codes making them cheaper, our box for 4 adults for 4 meals would be £58 but currently paying £27 so don't think it's too bad. Quality is pretty good, meat a lot nicer than gousto, some of the recipes are a bit samey, but if we get bored we skip a week. I have a £20 off voucher I can add if you wanted....

hopeishere · 07/12/2019 21:00

I've tried Hello Fresh. It's good. All the meals were very tasty. A lot of packaging though. I found a lot of stuff went to waste because the kids wouldn't eat bits if it eg yellow pepper so I had to leave it out. It's expensive.

eatsleepmoverepeat · 07/12/2019 21:10

I had a very bad experience with Hello Fresh and the ingredients were far from fresh too.

I use Morrisons Eat Fresh and love it. Cheaper and the ingredients are always fresh/have really good dates

arethereanyleftatall · 07/12/2019 21:10

I really enjoyed the Abel and Cole meals.

han01uk · 07/12/2019 21:12

Hope does have a point about packaging. I found hello fresh slightly less plastic waste than gousto, who sent 2 lots of 2 tiny mushrooms in a plastic try with cling film over. It is quite frustrating the amount of waste but then that's convenience for you if you don't want to go down the route of fresh veg boxes...

Iggleonkupsy · 07/12/2019 21:18

Thank you all for your honest reviews on them all.
I had no idea morrisons eat fresh was a thing! I will go and see what that is like.

han I have had a hello fresh box for free years ago due to a friend referral so now the voucher codes won't work. If you'd like to post your code then I'd happily use it if I go with hello fresh, it won't be until next week though as I have missed this week's order.
I may try morrisons, off to check out!

We love Gousto and have a box every week for two people. It's £34.99 and does meals for mon - Thursday inclusive for the two adults here. It's good value (for us, not cheap, but the value is there) and we love it

Dino44 · 07/12/2019 21:25

We use hello fresh and really like it. I have £20 off vouchers - if anyone wants to try it and wants a code send me a message :)

trilbydoll · 07/12/2019 21:27

We've just got a box from Hello Fresh and what I cooked tonight felt simpler than Gousto recipes we've had. Gousto has more choice tho and a lot more fish which is quite important as DH is pescaterian.

They're all good for new ideas and recipes etc so I'm planning to work my way round them all on various special offers.

Bonkersblond · 07/12/2019 21:27

Currently using Gousto, dipping in and out depending what’s on offer or how busy I am. Has made the kids eat more variety, some weeks haven’t fancied or couldn’t pick 4 meals we would all eat, menus easy to follow and the ones we’ve loved I now get the ingredients in to cook so I won’t order those meals anymore making the choice less. Wish they would sort the packaging out on the condiments, it is all packaged to serve 2, so when you order for 4 you get double packaging, most of the veg is plastic free and arrives in the card board box. I think I’ll continue to use as and when, it costs £39.99 with free delivery on a Monday, although heavily discounted for the first month.

han01uk · 07/12/2019 21:28

Iggle - if you have cancelled your subscription after you used that code, you can rejoin and use another, again and again. I've cancelled and rejoined 3 times now with different codes, this HELLOVCUKDEC code should give you 50% off 4 boxes.

Bonkersblond · 07/12/2019 21:34

£39.99 is 4 meals x 4 days for family at Gousto, it’s better value the more you buy, if anyone wants voucher codes have just checked mine 40% off first week, then 30% rest of month. Please PM if anyone would like.

Vagessence · 07/12/2019 23:10

@han01uk are you signing up with a new email address every time? Just tried that code on my account and it didn't work due it being for new customers only.

PassingIntoTheWest · 08/12/2019 00:48

Do any of these companies cater specifically for vegetarians? Are the vegetarian boxes a little cheaper?

safariboot · 08/12/2019 02:44

I did Hello Fresh for a bit. It was expensive for what you get, they all are. A fun novelty but more complex cooking than I want to do on a regular basis.

The Asda and Tesco magazines both do meal plans with shopping lists, they work out a lot cheaper. Best if you get your groceries online, it can be a bit of a faff finding everything in store.

Northernsoullover · 08/12/2019 03:05

I use simply cook. Its only the flavour and spices you get. No ingredients. However it has transformed my cooking. I did try the boxes with ingredients but I ended up binning a lot of stuff because I ran out of time or I simply didn't fancy it on a particular day.

TooleyVanDooley · 08/12/2019 03:38

I tried Gusto a couple of years ago. The quality, portion size and instructions etc were very good. I was genuinely impressed with it. Yes, there was a lot of packaging, but it was mostly recyclable or reusable.

I would still use them occasionally, but delivery would be really tricky and I just don’t have the time for much cooking. But it’s definitely really good for expanding your repertoire of what to cook, without needing to go get a whole lot of ingredients you may never use again. And if you live somewhere they can just leave it for you, it’s incredibly convenient.

han01uk · 08/12/2019 11:31

Vage - no new email used. I did live chat and asked them to take off the voucher code as it didn't work at first for me. They didn't say it was for new customers, just took off the 50%

DirtyDeeds · 08/12/2019 11:36

We use and enjoy hello fresh but a gousto code for a new user to compare the two would be appreciated Wink

Spindle85 · 02/02/2020 16:30

We love Gousto it’s so easy and good choice. Also lots of quick options for week nights. I’m a good cook but love not having to think about shopping with work and toddler. Also no wastage and more space in fridge. We usually get way more than 2 servings out of each meal - feeds us, toddler and often pack lunch too. Here is a code for 60% first box and 30% off first month code to try your first box

We also prefer Gousto, better flavours than Hello Fresh (they seem to add extra veg or parsley in insane amounts) and they have massively worked on lowering there plastic packaging. Whilst none of them are cheap options, it really takes some of the hard work out of meal planning and purchasing. Recommend using the app as well, very easy to get in contact with queries etc,.
