Just wondering what the upper age limit for someone to be adopted is?
Im 44 (if it matters) and feeling quite emotional due to Christmas approaching and the prospect of spending it just me and DD. I long for the big noisy family Christmas that I remember from childhood but sadly it’s just DD and I now. Does anyone want us? We’re no trouble

I'll sing Xmas carols to you Grin

You and dd will be begging to be left alone!

MustardScreams · 06/12/2019 21:38

Aw op you’re more than welcome at mine! The more the merrier. You are required to start drinking with us at totally inappropriate times and loudly sing Christmas songs all day though. Boards games are not optional!

Aw op I'm 27 and in the same boat. Just me and 2 year old ds. No partner, no family. Its a rather sad time of year when I think back to how Christmas used to be.

I'm 44 I have three children they are rowdy as hell you can be my long lost twin if you like?

Itllbelonelythischristmas · 06/12/2019 21:48

Rowdy kids, little kids, bad singers and board games - that’s what I’m talking about. Kat I know how you feel. Christmas really can be so very lonely

If it's any consolation there will be quite a few people out there wishing the same. Do you keep an eye out for people from other generations that may like to make a connection?

One of my extended family thanks God for an older couple who have taken her and her family under their wing. Her birth family is dysfunctional, this family have shown them such love and support.

ParkheadParadise · 06/12/2019 21:59

I've got a large family.
Christmas day is like this

Brothers drinking, Sil in a mood. Everyone squashed round the table 20 nieces and nephews 7 great nieces and nephews. Karaoke, everyone has to have a drink. Usually ends up in a fight. Niece and Partner always fall out.
DH always looks like he wants to run away.
Your more than welcome to come @Itllbelonelythischristmas were going to Inlaws this year 😂😂

Itllbelonelythischristmas · 06/12/2019 22:08

I know I’m imagining a perfect family Christmas and most of the time they’re exactly the opposite but it’s just people I miss. Someone that looks forward to seeing us I suppose. Christmas cards from relatives, a phone call, just family contact.

I’m in the same boat. Just me and a teenage DD, who wants to be at home. In her room.
Perhaps we should have a virtual MN Christmas?

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 06/12/2019 22:18

Legally it's quite young, I was told I was too old to be adopted on my 14th birthday.

Practically I have a bit of a family now with my fiancé and friends and I couldn't value that more. I hope you find the same, if that's what you want, and have a lovely day Thanks

Sprinklemetinsel · 06/12/2019 22:31

How old is DD? My DCs are 19 and 23, and with DH we are a reliable troop. I still feel grief at Christmas though, for the other family I don't have- parents and sibs.
