I have a gammy boob

I woke yesterday and my boob was very tender.
As the day went on it got worse, became red, swollen, hot to the touch and started leaking.

Trip to OOH last night and I have antibiotics, anti inflammatories and instructions to rest.

It fucking hurts.

Just in case anyone is wondering, I am not breastfeeding or pregnant.

It just got gammy.

And now I want sympathy because my partner of 12 years said "is that all?" When I told him. Hmm

Ask him how he would feel with an infected bollock......
Sympathies, OP.

HerRoyalFattyness · 06/12/2019 20:34

I did. Apparently he'd be fine... But he forgets I saw him hobbling about after his vasectomy. He was not fine. Bloody liar that he is.

This was mine

slipperywhensparticus · 06/12/2019 21:29

Would a hot flannel help?

Queenfreak · 06/12/2019 21:29

I'm guessing you've got mastitis even though you arent feeding.
How horrid, full sympathies

HerRoyalFattyness · 06/12/2019 21:32

client mines my entire boob. Completely red and swollen!
Queenfreak yep, docs just said infection but definitely sounds like mastitis.
Slippery the hot hurts it. Sad

Is it w cyst op? Hey why're so painful.

Having it drained is the best relief and doesn't hurt to have done

blackblue · 07/12/2019 06:20

Oh crap:. Now we have to add gammy boob to the list of things to worry about getting?

Hope your boob is feeling better Thanks

HerRoyalFattyness · 07/12/2019 10:03

woogal no, not a cyst. It's just gammy
Black blue apparently so. But to be fair I have a really shitty immune system anyway.

Oh your poor boob. And you.

I had mastitis when I was breastfeeding and the best relief was putting cabbage leaves in my bra. An old wives tale but I think it really did help. Worth a try? Unless you are off out anywhere of course Smile

Punxsutawney · 07/12/2019 10:34

Her I had mastitis three years after giving up breastfeeding. It was many years ago now but the gp at the time said it was likely to reoccur and gave me an extra prescription that I could get in the future if it did. Thankfully it never has although in the meantime I have had a nasty cyst that had to be drained. The male doctor that did that that told me that he doesn't use local anaesthetic, so It did hurt!

Lindy2 · 07/12/2019 10:43

Poor you.

For mastitis the old wives remedy of putting a savoy cabbage leaf in your bra really does actually help. I'm not sure if it helps the infection but it is actually very cooling and soothing. If you keep the cabbage in the fridge and switch to a fresh, cold leaf quite regularly, it works even better.
I hope you feel better soon.

StCharlotte · 07/12/2019 10:46

ClientListQueen

WTF??

Why is it square??

ClientListQueen · 07/12/2019 12:45

@StCharlotte it's where my bra went, it basically forced the abscess into the shape of the bra, the bottom line of the abscess is where the top of the bra cup went. It was so odd, bending over was agony and I had to kind of clutch my boob

StCharlotte · 07/12/2019 12:50

You poor love Confused

Hidingtonothing · 07/12/2019 12:54

Ouch that sounds painful! No advice just lots of sympathy OP, hope the anti-b's kick in soon Flowers

Oldraver · 07/12/2019 13:03

I had this a couple of years ago a few months after a biopsy still think it was caused by the bit of metal they leave behind

I've had mastitis a few times and it's definitely worse when there's no baby to feed

MySonThePotato · 07/12/2019 13:34

If it doesn't settle completely with antibiotics, go to your usual GP next week and discuss whether a referral would be a good idea (I'm a GP). Good luck.

HerRoyalFattyness · 09/12/2019 00:42

It's feeling a bit better today.

Still sore and a bit leaky, but not as painful as it was and nowhere near as hit to the touch.
