Upset after nurse appointment ...

Just back home from having an apt for smear test .

Ended up with two district nurses and GP having a look - GP says I have thrush, two abscesses on my labia, a further one on my breast, shoulder, and back, and ?some sort of hymen tissue that’s a bit stubborn ... And quite severe vaginismus. Been packed off with hibiscrub, canesten, antibiotics and another appointment in four weeks, and a promise that no one’s going to try and do a smear test again for a while .

I’m shattered and a bit baffled by having suddenly come down with what feels like some sort of pox type disease (abcesses)! .. I knew there were gynae problems as have already had surgery down there and knew I needed more done but didn’t realise how bad.

GP did say she’s going to screen for diabetes soon, but said as well as that it’s probably just a case of very run down, I’ve had a horrible year health wise, spent the whole summer on antibiotics with seven months of a UTI, had an op mid October after which they gave me another bag of IV abs too.. I’m guessing that’s the issue that my immune system has just taken a beating unfortunately, feel like shit now though ..

I’ve just done a huge Tesco order of fruit and veg, Yakult and boring stuff to see if that helps at all . My mental health hasn’t been good for a long time so I haven’t been going out much . I’ve applied for a job amd got an interview next week but now feel so bloody gross (despite the abscesses not being at all visible!) that my confidence is shared again .

The GP/nurses couldn’t have been lovelier at all but I’m feeling pretty rotten at home and just wondering what if anything I could do to make the situation better .. other than loading up with all the meds they’ve given me !

You poor thing, no wonder you're feeling so miserable and down!

Could I suggest taking a probiotic? Yakult maybe? And are you taking vitamin D? My doctor said that we should all be taking it, October through to March, because there's no way you'll get sufficient quantities at this time of year otherwise?

Oh you poor thing that sounds really rubbish! But it sounds as if its been the kick to implement some selfcare so thats a good thing. Flowers

Oh you poor dear! What a load to have suddenly thrown at you.

No wonder, really, that you have thrush if you've been on antibiotics so much. But that's just what it is. You're not gross - you're run-down and poorly.

Hooray for smear tests, hey? However unpleasant they are, they can reveal the smaller miserable illnesses, as well as the nasty, scarier ones, too. Now that you know what's wrong, what is making you even more run-down and delaying your recovery, you can do something about it.

Love yourself a little, prioritise yourself, believe in yourself and do whatever you need to get better.

((((Hugs))))

Thank you Flowers ... I’ve ordered some Yakult... not heard about vitamin D but that makes sense . Will ask when I’m next at the doctor . I’ve washed with the hibiscrub and stinging and itching all over but hopefully that’s a sign it’s working .

Hopefully things settle soon , I’m just a bit gutted as I had been trying hard the last month eg eating more fruit and veg, going o for walks a bit, and I’ve always made sure I’ve washed etc ... will change my bed tomorrow too and see if that helps a bit .

I’ve screwed up with painkillers so can’t take anymore til tomorrow morning now , but am so tired suspect I’ll be fast asleep once I get up to bed anyway !

Just wish I could speak to someone in r/l, my mum just shrugged and said, nothing anyone can do but if I wore a hat when I went out (?!) I’d feel a lot better . Can’t see what difference that would make in the long run . There’s a lot of stuff that happens at home that makes things very difficult . Not sure how to fix anything though sadly .

Your Mum sounds a tad bonkers. You're doing all the right things. Also, getting Cranberry Juice (not drink) could help with things 'down there'.
