Although this is a very sweet film, people celebrating the low cost has been bugging me since it became news fodder.
I work in the field, in close contact with advertising budgets.
A huge amount of skilled labour goes into producing any given TV campaign, and majority of the quoted stupendous budgets are actually formed off day rates for the labour.
In addition to creative professionals film shoots employ electricians, carpenters, drivers and caterers, most of whom are self-employed, and get large part of their income from seasonal campaigns.
Fees for agency, production company and post house in turn pay for their employees salaries.
So JL & other big advertisers donating their campaign budget to homeless charity could mean several families going with a lot less that year.
Also, pretty sure the music they've used is not yet out of copyright, so not sure how they would have really managed a total of £100!
Advertising might not be the worthiest of industries, but it is a huge employer, and pretty good at offering employment for young people from variety of backgrounds... Rant over.
