Which clothes shop voucher for teenage girls?

I'm so out of touch with what teen girls are into, please give me some pointers if you're more clued up than I am!

My nieces (15 & 17) will be in the UK for Christmas this year, visiting from Australia. They live in a smallish town there with very limited shopping available. For Christmas they would like vouchers to do some clothes shopping while they're here. They'll be travelling round a bit so online shopping isn't really an option, or as much fun for them.

So which shop(s) should I buy vouchers for? They aren't strongly into any particular "look" - they're quite outdoorsy, casual and beachy but also quite like being dressed up and girly. Please help!

Oh, I should have said, they'll be able to get to shops in Manchester and a couple of other cities while they're over.

I would suggest River Island, Zara or New Look

Agree with what @Fairycake2 says. DD would be happy with any of those.

Just give them cash then they can spend it in any shop.

Addsverisimilitude · 05/12/2019 10:36

DD would be less happy with Zara. I think there is a bit less variety there. I agree with New Look and River Island. Top Shop and H&M also very popular here.

AndNothingButTheTruth · 05/12/2019 10:37

If they are going to Manchester, maybe a gift card for the Trafford Centre? Can be used in nearly every shop there so they could use it where they want.

dancemom · 05/12/2019 10:38

New Look, Topshop, Primark

Smallinthesmoke · 05/12/2019 10:39

Urban Outfitters
Top Shop

snowybaubles · 05/12/2019 10:39

Cash is the ultimate voucher.

FelixFelicis6 · 05/12/2019 10:40

Urban Outfitters

BigGapMum · 05/12/2019 10:41

One 4 All gift cards can be spent in loads of different places, plus the value isn't lost if one retailer goes bust overnight. You can get them at the post office, or on-line.

peachescariad · 05/12/2019 10:42

Top Shop
New Look
H&M
or one of those one for all cards from the PO that can be used in store in 100s of shops.

Alfiemoon1 · 05/12/2019 10:47

Top shop primark new look

Scrunchcake · 05/12/2019 10:47

These replies are all very helpful - thanks :)

I know cash is the most flexible but I think they would feel like they ought to add it to savings rather than spend it on themselves (they're both a bit "old head on young shoulders").

@AndNothingButTheTruth I like the idea of Trafford Centre. I'm nowhere near there unfortunately but it's an Intu centre I think? Wonder if I buy Intu vouchers at Metrocentre they'd be able to use them in Manchester too - definitely worth checking.

I'd definitely second the One4All type of card. I bought one in tesco that includes Primark, River Island, H&M, so that might be suitable. Sadly Cotton On haven't made it to the UK yet - my dd bought up loads of stuff from there when she studied in Australia - but I think they'll have great fun shopping in Manchester, the Trafford Centre card sounds like a great idea too.

Goldwispa · 05/12/2019 10:52

New look, H & M and Top Shop

tectonicplates · 05/12/2019 10:56

No, do not buy One4All gift cards!

They advertise as being valid in lots of shops, but most shops don't actually recognise them. I was given one as a present once and when I tried to spend it, I was met with blank stares and nobody would accept it. I think that's how One4All make money - I imagine very few of the cards are successfully used.

AndNothingButTheTruth · 05/12/2019 10:58

@Scrunchcake I've just done a quick google and yes, they can be used at all intu centres!

tectonicplates · 05/12/2019 10:58

Zoflorabore · 05/12/2019 11:00

I would agree with Primark, River Island and New Look.

InglouriousBasterd · 05/12/2019 11:03

I agree re One 4 All! An absolute pain, even when they did accept them in H&M they needed several people around the till to work out how to process it.

I would say New Look and Primark (isn’t there a massive Primark in Manchester too?)

maidenover · 05/12/2019 11:16

Cash with instructions to spend it on clothes and not add it to savings then. It’s likely the only way they’ll end up with clothes they like rather than something they had to buy because they had a voucher for that shop.

Cedar03 · 05/12/2019 11:31

Definitely get a shopping centre voucher which they can spend in variety of shops if they don't want to have cash. Then they can choose from the range of shops what they like. Teen girls stuff seems to be either sports casual or quite dressy stuff. DD is 12 so doesn't see herself in any of the dress stuff at all but your nieces are older so might like more of that kind of look.

Trewser · 05/12/2019 11:32

Top Shop or Urban Outfitters

Trewser · 05/12/2019 11:33

But I agree cash would be better.
