How many days off for hand foot and mouth ?

Just wondering how long usually children need to be kept off as have had different advice from everywhere ?!

@anenomeV19 yes we were told not to see any pregnant women as it can be dangerous. Which is one of the reasons mine was off nursery so long.

Preschool told me dc need to be off until all the spots had crusted over and the scabs fallen off. Which took about 3 weeks I think.

That's insane given the nhs advice. It's not even the HFM spots that pass it on

I found the preschool was very strict on that sort of thing. I think it was because one of the children there was vulnerable and could get very ill from a normal childhood illness.

But they wouldn't have been infectious after around 5 days. 3 weeks is ridiculous
