Does this already exist or shall I invent it and become richer than Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos love child?

I want a light for the dark wardrobe under my daughter's high bed. It needs to be operated by battery but needs to switch off automatically after a minute or two cos' she'll forget to turn it off and the batteries will wear out.
Tell me where I can find such a light or I'm off to get crowd-funding!
No stealing my idea now!
This time next year ...

You have two (preexisting) options:

Motion sensitive light inside the wardrobe

Light with a switch inside the door mechanism which turns it on when open and closed when shut.

7salmonswimming · 04/12/2019 19:35

Can’t you just install a light that switches off when the door shuts?

PigAuntie · 04/12/2019 19:36

Ikea do lights that turn on and off. £70 though!!

PigAuntie · 04/12/2019 19:37

They are light strips specifically for inside wardrobes

PigAuntie · 04/12/2019 19:38

Actually just looked they do £8 ones!! When we were is tore the ones on display were the £70 ones!!

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 04/12/2019 19:38

I got a £5 motion sensor battery light in Aldi. Does exactly what you described.

ItsChristmaaaaaaaaas · 04/12/2019 19:41

My mum had timer lights. Sorry. Good idea - if you invent one that will work on main lights and DS has a bunkbed and hates getting out to switch off the light.

lifeisgoodagain · 04/12/2019 19:42

I already have them in my fitted wardrobes

PhilomenaChristmasPie · 04/12/2019 19:45

DD says she has an owl light at my aunt's which turns off after 20 minutes, if that's any good? She doesn't know where it's from, but you can Google it.

superfandango · 04/12/2019 19:46

Like a fridge light?

TooleyVanDooley · 04/12/2019 19:48

Yeah, ikea do them

Lifebee · 04/12/2019 19:50

Do the motion sensor ones only come on when the door of the wardrobe is open or can it sense motion through the closed door?

TweeBee · 04/12/2019 19:50

You need to use a fridge for a wardrobe OP, refreshing in summer too!

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 04/12/2019 21:22

@Lifebee ours can't see through closed doors, no.

IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory · 04/12/2019 21:24

Amazon. Motion sensor lights. I’ve got them in all the cupboards in the house. Love them. Might be addicted. [grin.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 04/12/2019 21:30

We have motion sensor lights in our wardrobes and in the bathrooms, so you don’t need to put the light on if you need to use the bathroom in the night. It goes off when it can’t detect movement.

Lifebee · 04/12/2019 22:29

Anyone got a link for one on Amazon that they'd recommend for under a tenner?

OP posts:
IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory · 04/12/2019 22:35

I have these. They aren’t under a tenner but there are six of them for £19.99.

I like them because you fix a little metal circle to the surface you want to put the lights on and then the lights have a magnet inside them so they’re really easy to take down and replace batteries or carry around with you if you’re 10 and need the toilet in the night Grin
