Eek - what is happening to my acera palm plant? The leaves are starting to turn brown the soil looks dry all the way through so I don’t think I’ve overwatered it. Please help, green fingered Mumsnetters!

I have a spray water bottle and give mine a mist regularly. I find when I don’t the tips start to brown.

Sounds like it is too dry. Obviously you don't want the soil sopping wet but it needs some moisture. A lot of plants like this originate in more tropical climates and lack of humidity and the soil drying out completely may well be distressing it. If it's near a radiator or sunny window, I would move it and also mist the leaves now and again.

Check the undersides of the leaves as well, in case there's any pests there.

Right. Have watered and bought a moisture meter as our flat gets incredibly warm with the heating on and I’m wondering if it’s a little too hot for it. Thank you!

Central heating is often the death of indoor plants (especially if it's very warm), and dry, brown edges is the result. Do you have a cooler area you could put it? Another idea is to sit it on a small tray of pebbles, kept constantly wet, but not allowing the pot to sit in the water - this will create a small microclimate of humidity around it.

It isn’t near a radiator but the flat is very well insulated unfortunately and heating is very effective. I’ve seen the micro climate idea before - I’ll give that a go as well 👍🏻
