Help!! Can I leave DD age 6 alone in the cinema?

Im at the cinema with both my DC watching frozen. Youngest (age 3) needs the toilet and oldest (very sensible 6 year old) doesn’t want to miss any of the film. The toilets are right next door. Can I leave eldest and take youngest?

Yes, I would, as long as your 6 yr old knows where the looks are in case they need you

ATowelAndAPotato · 03/12/2019 17:58

*loos!

If she was older I would but now I would take both children.

Doyoumind · 03/12/2019 17:59

Should be ok. Are there other families nearby?

MrsJoshNavidi · 03/12/2019 17:59

Yes, of course.

Aquamarine1029 · 03/12/2019 17:59

I wouldn't.

No

hiphiphoorayback · 03/12/2019 18:00

No I wouldn't leave my 7 year old.

JoGose · 03/12/2019 18:00

I wouldn’t but I am overly cautious

I left my 4 year old watching while I ran to take her little sister. Shes sensible and would have come to the door if she needed me but chances were slim as she was so engrossed in the film. I did ask her and she said she wanted to stay and she would have screamed the place down if I'd have dragged her out

ATowelAndAPotato · 03/12/2019 18:02

Hope you’ve gone and Dc is not sat in a puddle!

Jodie77 · 03/12/2019 18:03

I'd take the 6 year old and I'm generally pretty lax.

BIWI · 03/12/2019 18:04

Were you really using your phone to post on Mumsnet during a film?!. That's incredibly anti-social! I can't bear people who use their phones - the light on the screen is really disturbing - it's why you're told to switch your phones off by the cinema

captainprincess · 03/12/2019 18:05

I don't see why not. More Importantly are you using your phone in the cinema? because if you are that is the most irritating thing ever on cinema trips, when people get their phones out and light up the room with their screen Angry

BennyTheBall · 03/12/2019 18:05

Please don't say you sent this text whilst in the cinema.

Witchofzog · 03/12/2019 18:06

No. I am pretty lax but we have had a couple of fire alarms and subsequent evacuations at my local cinema. I think a 6 year old would be quite scared if this were to happen and she was alone

DangerMouse17 · 03/12/2019 18:09

I find it bizarre that you're asking to be honest. What did people do for such simple things, before having hundreds of people to consult on the internet? Confused

If they're sensible, will sit still and the cinema isn't otherwise empty of other families...then yes leave them and hurry back.

VanyaHargreeves · 03/12/2019 18:10

So you were being extremely annoying in two different ways :

Having an argument with your children about wanting a wee Mummy/but I don't want to go Mummy apparently for so long you resorted to Mumsnet

Caused light pollution in the showing by posting to Mumsnet and checking replies.

You should've been complained about by another attendee and asked to be civilised or leave.

Bunnybigears · 03/12/2019 18:11

Unless you are sat next to some scary type person I would leave her. At family films I quite often have people on the same row ask me to just watch their kids while they take one to the toilet.

Livebythecoast · 03/12/2019 18:25

Senario; my 3 year old needs a wee but we're watching a film and my 6 year old doesn't want to miss any of the film.
Solution; I know, I'll post on MN and type my senario and wait for replies to see if it's okay to leave my 6 year old (whilst my 3 year old goes crossed eyed holding on while mummy consults MN) 🤣.

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 03/12/2019 18:29

What kind of phones do people who that they light up an entire cinema room?

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 03/12/2019 18:30

Have*

VanyaHargreeves · 03/12/2019 18:37

The cinema is total darkness so the smallest light causes distraction, it is significant enough light to be annoying
