How much is your water bill?

They've just wanted to change my DD from £33 to £67. I live in a 2 bed there is 2 adults and 1 2 year old.

Adults having a shower or bath each day and 2 year old small bath every other day. Do around 4 loads of washing per week and have a dishwasher which is used roughly every other day.

This is very similar to a previous house I lived but I'm concerned why it's gone up so much. Can anyone tell me in relation to their set up whether this sounds about right?

I'm in a new build if that's makes any difference.

No water bill here.

sniffysnifferson · 03/12/2019 21:16

£28 per month on a meter. 2 adults, 2 kids.
Im shocked at £60+ per month!

Temporaryanonymity · 03/12/2019 21:21

£34 per month, on a meter. Daily baths and washing machine once a day.

m0therofdragons · 03/12/2019 21:35

£43 per month - 2 adults, 3 dc aged 8-11 and about 5 washing machine loads a week plus we have a hot tub although we only fully empty it once a year we do part water changes throughout the year.

Jodie77 · 03/12/2019 21:42

Between £45 and £55

ActualHornist · 03/12/2019 21:44

£38.84 over ten months, three bed terrace, two adults three kids dishwasher and washing machine.

That’s more than I thought actually. I was convinced it was £33.

TheElfFellOffTheShelf · 03/12/2019 22:15

£42 a month on water rates rather than metered supply.

Venger · 03/12/2019 22:32

£42 a month on rates here, it would be more expensive to go on a meter.

AnneLovesGilbert · 03/12/2019 22:34

£16 a month. 3 bed house and 5 of us.

ameliapond · 03/12/2019 22:45

Supply only, my last bill was £207 for the year.
Can't have a water meter fitted, they tried but couldn't fit one, so I'm on an assessed rate I think which makes it cheaper than standard rates, but not as cheap as a water meter would be. I used to be on one in my old place, and my water bills were half of what I pay now.

There's four of us, no dishwasher or shower. Washing done every day.

WineAndTiramisu · 04/12/2019 07:57

Used to be about £35/month, 2 adults, one child, lots of washing and dishwasher use, now £45 unmetered in the Midlands

StayClassySally · 04/12/2019 08:01

3 bed, three people. Two long showers for DP and I and a very short one for DD unless she is washing her hair. No dishwasher. £26 highest it's ever been. On a meter. You're being ripped off or your baths are in swimming pools

Snozzlemaid · 04/12/2019 11:00

The trouble is we might be being ripped off but we have no choice in the matter. We have to pay for whatever company supply water and sewerage systems in your area.
Here in Cornwall, South West Water's charges are astronomical compared to a lot of the country. We have to pay to keep our extensive coastline clean as well as our home supply and drainage.
We pay £100 a month for ten months of the year. A huge total of £1000 a year.
I've done the calculator for switching to a meter and we've got more people living here than we have bedrooms so we'd pay more apparently.

DragonontheWagon · 04/12/2019 11:05

Water meter here with two adults and one teen, another adult when dc is home from uni. Daily use of dishwasher, showers, bath once a week for dh and about 8 loads of laundry a week.

£14 pm for supply and waste water.

Southmouth · 04/12/2019 12:23

Wow I knew ours was expensive but it’s ridiculously expensive compared to all of these!

adaline · 04/12/2019 12:25

About £16 a month. Two adults.

thegreenbox · 09/12/2019 17:19

might be worth trying a meter still.. you can get it removed after a few months if it isn't working out cheaper for you.
