My sister is due in a week or so, we are already so grateful to the team.

What would be appreciated as a thank you? We wondered about a fruit basket?

My cousin is a midwife and fruit goes down well! She says they get far too many sweet treats.

Nice, I might do some shopping and deliver a few bags of fruit nearer the time!

Might get festive and decorate with tinsel Xmas Grin

Not a midwife but a nurse. We get loads of sweets, especially this time of year. Things that go down well include nice tea and coffee, also pens! All of the above we have to bring from home so they are appreciated. Fruit basket is nice too.

I can mix and match!

Will maybe do a hamper of sorts?

By nice tea and coffee, things like herbal teas? Those ones in silk bags?
And nice coffee, maybe the Azera instant type?

Pens? Would A box of biros be the kind of thing?

Yes those tea and coffee sounds nice. Clicky top biros! Smile

Have bought teas and coffees.

Ordered 100 clicky pens!

Fruit will wait until nearer the time :)

Holy shit a box of clicky pens would have gone down so well when I was a ward nurse! I love a clicky pen!

happymrsc · 04/12/2019 14:54

A hamper of goodies is always a winner where I've worked :) We do get given a LOT of sweet stuff so maybe a hamper with some nice teas/coffees, biscuits, fruit etc :)

parrotfashionista · 04/12/2019 21:48

I took in tea, coffee and fruit teas today and they went down really well - thank you for the recommendations Smile

FaithInfinity · 04/12/2019 21:52

Smile glad to help parrot!

Morporkia · 06/12/2019 12:24

Awww shit I feel really bad now. I bought the midwifery team 2 tubs of chocs (one for post birth ward staff, one for labour) after my daughter had her baby. Now I feel thoughtless.

CAG12 · 06/12/2019 12:58

Im a nurse! We get so many sweets/chocolates etc.

The best gift we ever got was a fruit hamper

happymrsc · 06/12/2019 13:19

@Morporkia don't feel bad!! Any gift is gratefully received, it's a tough job and even a thank you is massively appreciated. I promise those chocolates will have been enjoyed!!

CAG12 · 06/12/2019 13:30

@Morporkia dont get me wrong, chocolates go within seconds! However the fruit hamper was different

Morporkia · 06/12/2019 14:44

Next time (if there is a next time, GC is only a month old, lol) I’ll try a different tack. And go for a fruit bouquet

Morporkia · 06/12/2019 14:45

Bouquet? I meant basket!!

00100001 · 06/12/2019 16:48

another thought i had was, what about things like porridge sachets/cereal bars? would they be good?

OP posts:
happymrsc · 06/12/2019 17:50

@00100001 I think they're a great idea too!

FaithInfinity · 06/12/2019 20:19

Yes they’d be appreciated too!

I agree chocolate is always well received but I think OP was just trying to think of some alternatives.

LadyHalesBroach · 06/12/2019 20:26

My baby was born the week before Christmas, and knowing the midwife who delivered her was working on labour ward on Christmas Day, we went back with a couple of boxes of cheese (the selection packs you get at this time of year) and a few packs of water biscuits. (And a bottle of champagne for the midwife, she earned it!)
